Fantastic local Brewery, amazing view! Kids menu, wheelchair access. Delicious food and extensive menu.

Needing a feed after 2pm
Look no further… Island State Brewing: The Pier is the place to go! How frustrating is it when most places close the kitchen at 2pm, that doesn’t always suit travellers or locals… but how lucky are we that Ulverstone has Island State Brewing that offers all day dining from 12pm most days. Decent menu too! We selected some of the share plates today, as the kids couldn’t decide! So so so sooo happy they also have Holm Oak Vineyards Pig n D’pooch on the winelist!

Wonderful lunch today. Butter Chicken pizza was wonderful. Invited friends for their first time. Loved their meals too. Our favourite place to eat. Cheers Justin

Always look forward to popping into the Pier. Great food, really helpful staff and the cider is always my go too! Great spot to bring the family along - my nephews love the kids corner. Thanks

Perfect location overlooking the water. Great variety of drinks and a fantastic menu. $7 schooners in a Sunday was an afternoon well spent! Highly recommend.

Staff are super friendly and professional, especially Nellie, her knowledge of beers and music is extraordinary. Decor around the place is below par.

Pretty average since being taken over, sadly. The vibe is 'retirement chic' (obviously catering to the oldies and trying not to attract a younger audience). Music is just golden oldies on loop. Was told there was a "potato shortage" when trying to order hot chips. I had just eaten hot chips at the take away place literally next door for lunch so I call BS on that. The spirits selection is now absolutely rubbish. Pretty poor all up. But luckily they've got a monopoly, so this review probably won't do squat.

3.9 stars, so I'll just call it 4.
Perfect location and position, who doesn't want to sit outside or near a window with a view like this?
Staff are friendly and polite, though I would suggest still getting the hang of it (not sure which tap, slow at getting the pours done etc)
Large range of beers on tap, and they allow tastings to find your style.
Food list is limited at this point but quite tasty and enjoyable. They appear to be facing the great chip shortage of 22/23 so you kinda get whatever kind of chip comes out. The pizzas are good, though I would say the margarita is not really a traditional one (still tasty)
We spent over $120 and a I would say that was reasonable for a family of 5.
I think they are still finding thier feet and vibe, the fundamentals are all pretty good

What a place for a beer on the riverfront.
Make sure you try the soft crust pizza!
A must visit craft beer and wine experience.

3.8 stars, If 5 is perfect nobody gets 5. The house brews aren't bad but aren't amazing however they stock a rotating range of sours, gose porters and fruity IPA's with a boutique pub angle. Being a big fanbof fruity beers I like to be able to pinpoint which specific fruits they taste like be it pineapple, mango, passionfruit or whatever, most here taste broadly fruity but not specifically anything.

Fooodwise, the mushroom burger and truffled mushroom pizza are nothing short of excellent, the pizza was light on mushroom but heavy enough on the truffle oil to really bring highlight cheddar and the umami in sliced mushrooms. Absolutely amazing. The beer battered pickles were delicious with I presume a home made relish on par with what you'd buy at a country market. It was so good I asked who the chef was; if John is working it's guaranteed good.

The river views are great, the staff are good, no upselling or pretending to be know about things, they provide good feedback where they know and are efficient and feel genuine whilst offering tasters to make your own mind up.

The colour scheme inside and decoration isn't anything special, they're provably still getting a feel for the space. That said nobody else is competing for such a nice experience. A few things are middling but others shine hard.

Background music being streamed was cool and created a good atmosphere. The addition of live original music and more consistent publication (has been a mix of mostly cover acts advertised seemingly last minute since opening; as late as the day before the gig) as to what is upcoming with enough forewarning to put in your calendar paired with descriptions of the musicians sound not just names and relying on you recognising them could really elevate it to an incredible space for the community. Excited to see how it evolves over time.

If in town eschew other options and go here first.
