Iron Pot Golf Course

A challenging and unpredictable golf course. Each hole has its own quirks. Whilst there is the relief of “preferred lie”, if you really want a challenge, try playing and putting from where it sits. You are allowed to move your ball on greens to a clearer path (as some are suffering due to lack of water), but I say just play it. It’ll rattle your nerves. The 4th hole, a par 3 over a large dam, offers a real challenge, along with a birdie opportunity if you get it right. In spring (particularly and specifically November) on the second and third hole, there are a team of magpies, led by an absolute daredevil of a squadron leader. You’ll recognise the blighter by the small tattoos of screaming golfers on his fuselage.
Speaking of birds, there are a murder of crows who will steal your ball as soon as look at you. There is a large hollowed tree somewhere (known locally as the Taylor Made Retirement Village) filled with shiny new golf balls. The 9th/18th hole are normally the target. The 5th hole is a hilly par 4. Do not stray to the left, particularly in summer. There be scrub and trees protected by a legion of tiger snakes. Whilst tiger snakes are normally friendly little fellas that love nothing more than a tip of the hat and a “how’d you be dig? ”, not these ones. They have tiger snake picnics and don’t like being disturbed. Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
If it rains, just wait a few minutes, it’ll pass.
Fees are very reasonable, and there is, essentially, an honour system. So if you’re not a member, please pop $15 in the box.
There are sand buckets and carts along with plenty of parking and (after 3pm on weekdays, after noon on weekends) there is the RSL which has a full bar, excellent food and great staff.
Golfers love to bang on about all the great courses they’ve played. Only the bravest face the challenges of Iron Pot. She’s broken many an arrogant stick man’s heart with her “I’m just a humble country gal” persona. Be prepared to lose your balls.
Those from Royal Hobart like to look down their coke filled noses at the Pot, but none dare play her, as they know their precious handicap will be slapped every which way but Thursday.
It takes a stout heart, nerves of steel and some sweet stroke play to walk away with dignity from Iron Pot, so bring your A game.

Nice location for the course and good in the fact it doesn’t pretend to be better than it is. Greens are a bit patchy and could do with more grass in general in some spots, but again if you’re just looking for a cheap, easy swing it’s not bad. $15 maybe a bit much for what it is, $10 would be fair
P.s keep an eye out for the magpie on the 2nd/3rd hole

Didn't play the course, but they have good food, camping area and it's also the local rsl.

Great meals and the best bartender/waitress. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Great weekend!

In a word, terrible, don't waste your money. From tea box to green this place is very poor.

Awesome place to camp at 5 dollars a night. The people were very friendly and a old beer.

Great set up.good greens.fairways pref lies. Unfortunately water is the problem but volunteers keep the course in good condition
