Hill Street Grocer New Town reviews
32 As a very regular customer,
I absolutely love this store. Great gourmets, food and drinks variety are amazing. Has best fresh vegetables! As well. I go here more than I go to supermarkets.
The staff have such wonderful wonderful customer service. This place is an asset to New Town, North Hobart and all around it.
Always terrific produce, locally sourced where possible. Prices and quality of meat fruit & veg are better than the major supermarkets.
Great store in a good location you get great value on some items and bad value on other items. Friendly staff and a good collection of items
Very bad service
Also no any response to my email about the feedback on the bad experience
$12.50 for a loaf of gluten free bread that was stale.so called caesar salad 90% lettuce and one egg.fried rice tasteless.all expensive.
Great lil supermarket. Not badly priced on most things. I usuay shop here everyday especially for their fruit cups:)
Very helpful staff who helped me find a product I was looking for at a different store by contacting the supplier.
Wonderful place - just stumbled on it as we looking for another shop. Excellent food, huge range, great friendly staff and service - wish there were more - come to Qld!
Hill street the one supermarket I can really call home.the shelves are stacked with the freshest goods, the meat section is filled with only the best quality meats, the staff are always kind, the aroma of the deli wafts across the store, and lastly the location is of the highest level of convenience.definitely the best grocer in all of Hobart. No, all of Tasmania. No, all of Australia. I definitely recommend this fine establishment to all tourists and locals alike.
What goes through the owners' minds when scouting a site for a new store: "Ah, yes, that one ticks the box - it's got a really awful, hard-to-get-in-and-out-of parking lot. Let's set up a new Hill St here! "
One of my top favourite places to buy nothing less than 5 star quality and fresh produce and service is also top notch. Highly recommend
Always amazed at the range of incredible produce packed into this store. The fruit and veg is outstanding.
I went to pick up a few things on my way home. I was wearing overalls and had a hard day's toil. It's the first time I've been talked down to by a checkout operator. This bloke obviously didn't like my attire. Flash shop though, very flash. Might be a little snobby which is weird for a grocer.
My local, always the most lovely staff and mostly sells produce that I want to cook. The vegetables are much fresher than the large supermarket chain stores Woollies and Coles. The veg last alot longer in my fridge and fruit bowl, this is very good for lack of wastage and I like knowing my family get the nutrition still within the fresh produce. I hate old food!
What this store lacks in size it makes up for in staff attitude!
Today I ran into an old friend in the store. We tried to have a short conversation, however at 1.5m apart we couldn’t hear each other over the loud music. Her young children were uncomfortable with the volume as were other shoppers. This was demonstrated by the shoppers walking around with their fingers in their ears. I approached a staff member and asked why the music was so loud. Their response was “Were you in the middle isle? ” To which I answered “yes, however it’s incredibly loud throughout the store”. Their response was “Ok, I’ll turn it down.just for you! ”
As I responded with “ I’m sure all of your customers will appreciate it” the staff member’s trolley struck the back of my leg. An insincere, false apology was given with a smirk.
Today was the worst experience of the store. Normally I can deal the feeling of being an inconvenience to the staff who, for some reason are always blocking up the narrow isles to stock shelves.
Always clean and friendly. Nothing is too much for them, if they can help they will and love that they will bring groceries to the car for you also. Very much appreciated. Great staff every time! Thankyou for all that you do.
Nice place, we went there as they're listed as a Coal River Farm Chocolate stockist, yet they had zero stock, and staff member we asked had never heard of it, even went into the mack to ask, same answer.
A great shop, I've been told about it, but didn't have opportunity to visit until today. Really healthy, fresh fruit and veggies. I'll be sure to visit again.
At Hill Street store, Augusta Road staff need to be commended for their excellent work during this pandemic for the health measures and social distancing restrictions they have put in place. Other local businesses could do well to take notice and adapt similar processes. Well done Hill Street store. Thank you.
A wonderful grocery store (new town). Only in tassie. Wonderful to be able to shop here instead of woollies or coles. Beautiful presentation, fresh produce, ethical and local meat and cheese and good bread.
Only negative at the moment is the hand sanitising police at the door - as if there wasn't enough disregard for our right to be treated like adults going around at the moment. Please get rid of them.
