Grey Sands Vineyard reviews
15 It was an amazing experience! Rita is super nice and kind. The explanations of the history of the vineyard, the wonderful wine varieties they produce are absolutely perfect.
The wine tasting itself is lovely. Next time I will call the day before so I could have the perfect match with typical food products from the area!
I strongly reccomend to call and book a wine tasting at Grey Sands!
Grazie mille per la slendida esperienza Rita
With an outstanding variety of vintages to taste from Pinot Blanc, to Malbec (with an exceptional 2012 & 2015 Pinot Noir), plus a selection of delicious varietals, Grey Sands Vineyard is not to be missed. Their 10 wines on offer are exceptional in character and depth, with subtle layers and notes that you will be tested to find elsewhere in Tasmania, let alone the world. And given the obvious passion Rita and Bob have for their wines, it easy to taste why.
**Note bookings are a must, no drop in cellar door tastings.
Rita is an excellent host with wonderful stories of their land and surrounds, and of course will answer any question you have about their delicious selection.
The hand planted and curated gardens (from where you'll do the tastings) are absolutely gorgeous, with sensational views of the Tamar Valley. If you're lucky Bob may give you a tour of their grounds. Highly recommend.
Only found this little gem by recommendation. Had a fantastic time, great variety of wines and very welcoming host providing a lot of information. Best wine tasting in Tassie by far! You get a broad variety of high quality wines, unlike other wineries that charge you for a small tasting and not even wave the fee after purchase. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be coming back!
This was one of the best wine tasting experiences we had (and we have been to many!). Set up, wine varietals and the company of the owner were the best. Our favourite varietals are Pinot Gris and Rose, but some of the red blends also made it into our cellar. Excited to come back!
We are so lucky to have these quality and high calibre wines available to us collectively... Thanks to the Richters at Grey Sands, and their considerable experience in producing such memorable vintages. We will not and do not purchase wines from anywhere else anymore, in all honesty. - from J&J Nelson, in North Central Tasmania, Australia.
My sister & I experienced a wonderful afternoon wine tasting at the glorious property at Grey Sands. Rita was a very friendly & knowledgeable host and made our experience very enjoyable. During the tasting we were served a tasty, well presented platter of local produce. Afterwards we were able to tour their beautiful gardens. Highly recommended.
What a perfect experience!
Rita is a lovely lady who gave me and my husband great information about wines! The wines were unique, cheese platter was tasty and the view was breathtaking!
P. S.we had a worm welcome performed by Coco
Lovely wine and cheese platter. Beautiful setting. So nice to have a one on one experience with the vigneron.
My wife and I visited Grey sands as we already knew it was our favourite wine, myself definitely not any sort of wine expert. But we walked away with so much knowledge and understanding of how much effort and love go into a bottle of Grey sands wine, all the stories of how the vineyard came to be and grew over the years was amazing. Rita is an excellent host and really cares. I highly recommend anyone who likes a decent wine comes to visit (and join the wine club).
Wow - we did a tasting at their place and was amazed by the hospitality, beautiful garden and mins blowing wines. Bob is a perfectionist and this comes through in every wine you taste. Their knowledge, and willingness to share it with us, was extraordinary.
Had the most amazing experience at Bob and Ritas house in the Tamar Valley. First started by walking through the magnificent garden and was greeted with a table of all their wines to try while looking out at a beautiful view. Rita was so informative and shared her life experience and passion. Please include this little family run winery on your next trip to the Tamar Valley. Will be worth it i promise. Left tipsy with 5 bottles.:)
Fantastic place. Very Friendly owners, very informative, great wines, lovely view. Private tastings. One of the best wineries, Even picked us up. Thank you.
Rita and Bob are lovely people who work really hard to create amazing wines that remind me the flavours of Italy, my home country. Absolutely recommend buying their products
Awesome wine, and awesome people! If you need WINE go to their website and grab it! You'll not be disappointed!
By far the best vineyard of the Tamar Valley (and possibly Tasmania overall). Robert and Rita had an amazing setup just for us to try some of the most stunning and unique wines of the region. The view, the stories, the quality of their wines, and the personal touch make it the most memorable experience in our trip. So keen to be back with you!
