Glacier Rock reviews
20The view from here is absolutely breathtaking. As long as you are wearing warm clothes, you'll be able to enjoy every bit of the time you spend here
A good viewing platform that is not far from the bus stop. This would be a good viewing spot if you are unable to do the circuit.
An easy casual walk for most. There is a small section that requires some coordination but it was easily managed by an elderly lady with a stick!
Can't get enough of the view. A lot of people at Glacier Rock lookout point but they come and go for short while. We were able to take fantastic photographs without anybody in the photos. Picture perfect weather. Tranquil place and there's benches where you can have your morning coffee and breakfast. Make sure you keep your litters and bring it back to your lodge as there's no rubbish bin to throw into. What a wonderful experience with clear blue sky that reflects on the lake as well. Lucky us. Even though it takes 10mins to the lookout point, every step you take you would want to take photos in different angles, so we arrived half an hour later due to that. Of course there's a bit of steps to climb.
Very lucky to experience this beautiful place with my gorgeous man Darren.
We were very lucky as we just got to the water & it started sprinkling for a few minutes.
Then we had beautiful weather except it was freezing.
It's a great setup with the shuttle bus takes you from top to bottom.
We love the wombats, truly amazing animals.
Love seeing the different mushrooms and Moss.
Very very easy and relaxing walk, you get to view the lake and cradle mountain from on top of glacier rock. Great payoff for an easy walk. Plenty of seats to sit and watch the clouds pass over the mountain peak, or enjoy the view of the boat shed
Stunning national Park, with general great tra ks and well organised in terms of the visitor centre and buses to take you to the start of the tracks.
Amazing view of Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain. If visiting during the winter, aim to reach by mid-day so the fog would have lifted.
Beautiful view! Its worth the drive. Just be careful because the road is windy, its a bit tricky to drive.
A stunning lookout has been added to Glacier Rock and allows spectacular views over Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake
A natural geological formation during the ice age carving the the grooves on the huge boulder. A good experience to see nature at work after so many years it is still here for us to admire.
Personal believes one of the best point to see the cradle mountain. 10 minutes from bus stop of Dove Lake
It's world famous for a reason. It's nature at its best. Very gentle walk from the entry of dove lake.
Great place however make sure you read the map properly. I muffed up and went on this walk which was not good for my knees.
Glacier Rock is an easy to reach, a short walk, viewing point or lookout for Cradle Mountain and surrounds. Until recently it used to be just a rock with steep edges and a couple of steps from falling into ice cold water. It was more natural. Now, a nice viewing platform has been build that makes the location safer but takes away from the previous experience. Still, the views are the same and everyone visiting Cradle Mountain should visit this spot.
Great place to enjoy a wonderful view with Cradle Mountain in the background. In every season, every kind of weather, this place is absolutely stunning.
Newly renovated lookout in the most stunning location. If you’re in Tassie it’s a must see. The shuttle bus service makes it very easy to get to see the beautiful Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain close up for even inexperienced visitors. Just make sure you’re dressed appropriately and have some food and drink. The lookout is an easy 10 minute walk from the shuttle bus car park and there are longer walks available for experienced hikers.
Impossible to take a bad photo.
Summer format of the Glacier rock, a view from Dove lake walking circuit. A good walking trail around the lake. Kid friendly, but not pram friendly. Pack good shoes, water and a snack for 2 hour long walk. No wildlife to spot other than a few wallabies, you will spot a few wombats on your way back on the bus at dusk.
Great day out for a 6.2km walk around the Dove lake. Wouldn't recommend for elderly on some parts of the track.
The hike around the lake is amazing, it changes so much. This lookout is just one of the beautiful spots to soak in the place, get some great pictures and carry on. Let nature and Tassie impress you.
