Franklin Tavern reviews
12 I tried calling this place, left a message on the phone, sent message via Facebook. Still waiting to hear from them. That was over a week ago.
We did have a look inside when visiting Franklin. It's very old, dingy & not very clean. I wouldn't recommend having a meal here.
Rocked up here on a Friday night and glad we did. Absolutely gorgeous owner Con looked after us and was so kind. There’s no food service but he suggested we grab food from a local fish and chip shop and bring it back. Which we did. Every Friday night a talented 84 year old jazz musician plays piano and sings. And is more than happy for anyone to bring instruments and join in. He had so many stories. Con brought us out a brownie and cream courtesy of himself and let us stay in the car park in our camper van. Patrons were lovely also. Highlights of my trip meeting these beautiful locals.
Have been longing to step foot inside and finally in Franklin when open. Lovely owner with lots of history to discuss if you are thus inclined. One of the older pubs in Tassie and one of the only ones that still keeps the somewhat original look and feel. Worth a stop, chat and cold bev if this is your thing.
Camped at Franklin Tavern for 10$ pP, owner was a lovely old German fella who was super sweet during our stay, we even got breakfast from him. He was super nice and a funny chap to talk with, quite a nice place to camp or even just stop for a beer!
Great place.owner knowledgeable on history beer cold and nice cocktails flowing. Have to stop there
Great atmosphere! Fun relaxing g time to be had. Haven't had a meal but heard they are top quality
Warm atmospheric pub, a welcome find when passing through Franklin. Friendly host, roaring fire on a cold night, good music and an enjoyable glass of wine.
Good food and beverages. Variety of special wines. History of Franklin and memorabilia also on premises. Friendly staff.
Ok. Good beers. No food though but they don't mind you bringing take away in from local shops. Interesting bands there. House drum kit with cymbals is pretty good.
Ok old Pub and backpacker bar buzzing with activity when I stopped by friendly staff and owner was ok beer was at a reasonable price.
There is some nice art work done on out side of bar too which gives the place a little more atmosphere.
This place is charming and the food is terrific - the host is welcoming and a wonderful raconteur.jazz night was a hoot!
Cosy, snug little pub. Like 'ole English Taverns of a by gone era. Amazing green leather booth settles for seating at tables & fireside. Best drinks prices for miles & miles.
