Fox and Hounds Restaurant reviews
38We ran out of water and we were looking for refill our bottles. We went to this cute place and asked the very friendly stuff for help. Immediately she took out two canisters of tasteful drinking water. We are so thankful! She was our life saver. We definitely recommend this restaurant and we definitely would come back to spend more time there:)
It was very refreshing to see a good choice of salad dishes. The meal was ample and we enjoyed our lunch.
The lunch time menu is very boring and limited. If I had had a chance to see it before arriving and sitting down I wouldn't have bothered. Service was good, atmosphere wasn't really there during the day maybe its better at night.
Atmosphere was nice, had driven past for years and finally stopped for dinner. Person behind the bar forgot our drinks, poured the wrong beer, didn’t put through all our orders correctly. Table was sticky and the ramekin for the gravy was actually really dirty.
Food came out quick and steak was cooked well which was a positive but most meals quite expensive for what they are.
Overall and wonderful experience.
The gluten free curry for my partner was wonderful.
My chicken schnitzel wasn't too heavy and was perfect for me at the time. If you want something crunchier this isn't it but it was for me at the time.
My wife and I walked into the restaurant at 1: 55 pm and we asked if we were too late for lunch? We were told that meal orders didn't close until 3: 00 pm. The receptionist guided us to a table where we then chose a meal. We noticed a sign saying to order meals at the bar. I waited a couple of minutes, then I hollered out " is anyone there ", we waited a further few minutes, so I went back to the reception desk and no one was there either. It looked like we were the only ones there so we also vacated the building.
Having dinner before going to Ghost tour at Port Arthur. Service by the staff was A+ the fire was on, area was warm and relaxing. Dinner was great, salad was tasty and the whole plate was prefect. Thank you for a great service…. Worth dropping by for a feed
Cozy little spot with a fireplace and bar. Food was overpriced for what was actually served. Good service from the bartender. If you have any dietaries, definitely ask/alert the staff as the menu indicates on some items as gluten free but then served with regular bread.
Schnitzel was amazing. I can’t remember EVER having a better one.
Service was great and food came out quickly and well timed between entree and main.
Really good (simple) food cooked home style. The staff were fun! We were in Port Arthur 2 nights and dined here on both nights.
Our family of 4 had a lovely meal here recently.the restaurant was busy but the staff were efficient and friendly.would definitely come back.
If you're in the area and looking for a good pub meal, this place will do it. We were served by a really friendly bearded bar tender and the food came out swiftly. Ingredients were fresh and meal was bursting with flavour. The venue itself has been freshly renovated and has a fantastic rustic feel.
The building has an amazing Tudor style pub atmosphere. The food is nice and priced reasonably given the remote location.
Staff were fantastic. Food was outstanding. Room was excellent value. Very happy with the experience.
Great counter meal, good quantity of food. We like to drop in here for at least one meal when we stay in the area.
Stayed the night and ate here as well. Very happy with the dinner, delicious and tender schnitzel. Nice atmosphere and beds are comfy
Came here for dinner, the food was so delicious! We had steak, it was great portion and quality meat.
Great service, food was terrific and the place has a beaut rustic charm about it. Fire place was stoked and music selection was great. My wife had the Guiness Pie and devoured it and I had the Tassie Salmon with Skordalia, chat potatoes and broccolini which also met the same fate.
We had a self catering cottage and didn't use the restaurant, but the cottage was spacious and well equipped with comfortable beds and a view of the water. We were given fresh towels every day and linen every 2 days. It was great value for money
Room was fine. Bathroom and kitchenette bit tired looking. Good bed. Quiet.
Don’t expect a happy to see you welcome.
