Europcar Launceston Airport reviews
41 Great Car, great staff, great service
2022 Kia Carnival - 8 seater - Diesel - very responsive - with plenty of power if needed. Very accurate cruise control and speed limit detection. Comfortable seating in front middle and back seats. Very convenient pickup drop off with Europcar desk at the baggage carousel and vehicle ready to go just outside, in the Europcar area.
I didn't receive the car I booked - which is pretty standard. But then I was charged $60 for a few litres of fuel because they said the tank wasn't full when the car was returned (they checked it 3 hours after I left the key in the drop box). I was asked for proof that I purchased fuel next to the airport just before I returned the car: I sent the receipt. I was asked for proof that I boarded the plane and didn't keep driving the car: I sent my boarding pass. Then they said the documentation they asked for was irrelevant and they didn't think the tank was full so the charges stood. Why even ask me for the documentation if they're going to disregard it anyway? So I paid for fuel at the service station, and then an additional $60 for fuel to Europcar.
UPDATE: The reply from Europcar below is meaningless saving face on social media. Customer care replied within the day that the documents were irrelevant and nothing would be changed. They could have given me the benefit of the doubt on the basis that the car was unaccounted for in their lot for over three hours, or simply NOT ASKED for documents they thought were irrelevant.but no.
The staff was very friendly and quick
The car was better then I expected
The car was brand new
We loved our experience highly recommended
It was simple seamless pick up and drop off procedure after booking a few days earlier and very good value
Thanks to the lovely staff at the counter for your warm and prompt service. The 4wd upgrade made our local holiday that much more fun.
Booked a particular type of vehicle only to be given something completely different. Not happy about that. Although the customer services officer was very accommodating.
Good experience hiring a small SUV from Europcar Launcrston Airport in Oct 22. They offered the best deal at the time and also their cars are parked at the airport without needing a shuttle.
Only thing didn't like was car had a few pre-existing marks which were recorded. Had to take many photos as backup plus sending to their general email for records and that took 10 minutes of my time.
People like Dipu at Launceston Europcar are the reason I'll keep using Europcar. Brilliant service, over and above, very clear and efficient. Thanks Dipu.
Was offered a variety of options for an upgrade to existing booking at a reasonable rate. The allocated car was exceptionally clean and felt brand new.
I’ve got myself a car here for experiencing Tassie. The car was booked through a broker, so all the insurances were already included. When I arrived at the counter I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a bigger car, but I denied. They told me it might be a good idea to get a bigger car due to the Tassie road conditions, but I sticked to the small car I had booked. After all I got a free upgrade to a much bigger car. It seems they didn’t had any smaller car around, and tried to make me pay for the bigger one. The car itself was good, but there ware some stone chips and little scratches around. As I reported them to the staff they just said “It’s fine”, so to be safe, take some photos at pickup!
Car return was no problem, as the counter was closed in the morning, I just dropped the key in the return box and had no problems afterwards.
It’s a good place to rent a car, but don’t let them sell you a bigger car, it’s most likely you’ll get it for free anyways:)
Great service - Lihendra and the team at Launceston Airport were very friendly and extremely efficient. So nice to see a bit of 'good old fashioned customer service' in action.
I've used Europcar for the last 8 years or so in Aust/NZ, and are my first preference. Europcar tend to have best rates, cars have always been clean and reliable. Bookings are easy and staff are great to deal with.
The staff member was friendly, informative and even managed to upsell, which we were happy with. A+
Good cars and friendly service, however not always there and needed a phone call to get service. Not a huge issue but a little confusing when all other desks were manned.
One of the worst experiences I have had renting a car. Picking up the car was fine, however dropping it off had so many issues. They accused me of scratching the car, when it had already been there and lucky
I had a photo of when I picked it up with the scratch already there. The way they incriminate you and make up stories to say I did it was ridiculous.
Eventually after back and forth it was raised to head office and I was not charged for the damage. I was held back and luckily my flight was delayed or they would’ve not let me leave. This ruins your whole trip back home.
After this situation, I was double charged however they are claiming they never double charged me. I am now out of pocket $734 for no reason and Europcar have just closed the case. It comes to show when things like this happen, Europcar have no respect or trust for customers and will just ghost you and they make you reach out to them for updates. Their customer service is appalling I have never had anything happen like this before and the most frustrating thing is I have solid evidence of the double charge. No words.
Customer representative and customer service are both excellent. The Car was beautiful and lovely to drive, Well done!
Such a smooth process for pick up in Launceston and drop off in Hobart. Staff amazing at both ends.
It seems to be a lot of problem of in reservation systems. Even if we make a reservation, most of the time there is no car what i booked online
However, the staff was able to book a new car through detailed car descriptions and advice. I am grateful to the staff.
We arrived at airport to no-one on the counter - after 3/4 hr rang the 1300 as no response to number displayed. The employee turned up - rushed me through paperwork as he apologised he was busy & please sign here, here etc. Told us where the car was & gave us keys. In hindsight we should have carefully read the document & query the charges but at end of day left & only discovered when invoice sent through extra charges & when ask to investigate get a response back we signed agreement so we were informed of charges - extremely bad customer service & will never use company again. Plus the car was riddled with ants inside & out.
Had a booking confirmed for a truck and then received an email afterwards saying that
"we have had someone extend their booking for another week.
What that means is that we cannot supply you with the requested truck. "
Not sure how that is possible, the person should have to return the truck and then can book it again after my hire is completed.poor customer service
