It could use a thorough clean at least once a week. Detergent and such as pressure cleaning etc. The place is a bit of a cess pool antisocial behaviour vibe feel in this. Seen some young people running through and unsure what is going on really. They weren't jogging although there were the dedicated joggers.
A few homeless maybe and some groups of people you feel maybe shouldn't be there. Having 3-5 police walking the mall area would be great at least you would feel there is a bit of order.
None sighted but did see a police paddy wagon at the south end. I daresay the authorities know there is a problem there. Unfortunately as tourists see the place, it's not a good look to just have a bandaid approach.
Why not use move on notices and banning orders etc?

I'm here every day. Walking through to go to work. I love the little flower van and the buskers. I hate that people still smoke in there and no smoking is not enforced. There are some fights and undesirable behaviour but that's more the clientele not the place itself. They have been painting the seats etc and it looks better. It's nice to sit and eat outside some days. It can definitely be improved further still.

A great place to hangout with friends and get some shopping done with plenty of shops and places to eat. There's beautiful architecture as well

The mall really needs an uplift. It is looking bleak in parts, with no real attractions or cafes. It needs to be more vibrant to attract visitors. Perhaps another tourist shop? Or a cafe?

This mall is safe during the day but I'd be careful after dark as it is sometimes populated with gangs of youth and/or homeless.
Easy access to public toilets and a vast array of shops.

Love the shops and the food places are amazing. There is also often some buskers including a few violin players that are nice to sit and listen to or watch for the times there are dancers

Different from other Australian states and cities, Tasmania has no "China Town". But recent years, more and more Chinese settle and study in Hobart, so more Asian shops open along both sides of Elizabeth mall and Elizabeth Street, eg. Sushi bar, Hot-pot, Bubble tea, Hongkong restaurant, Taiwanese noodle, Asian supermarket and bakery etc. Maybe these area will be the first "China Town" in Tasmania ️

What can you say buses one end shops the other right in the middle where cat and Fidel and all GR8 shops are. No smell of smoking GR8 place to meet n eat n chat for lunch.

Cute, usually with some buskers playing. More and moreclitylr cafes are popping up which are great. This is the centre of the CBD and there are a plethora of alleys leading to small shops and several large complexes. There's actually heaps of shops here.

At time of review, the visitor's information booth was in the process of being replaced, so there were sectioned off areas. This is a busy, vibrant outdoor mall, with a variety of stores accessible from it. There is a reasonable amount of seating, as well as outdoor dining areas for the numerous eateries along its length. There is an undercover section, but it is mostly exposed, which can be quite chilly during the winter months. Having once been an actual section of Elizabeth Street, most of the store frontage on either side has awning coverage.

Interesting place to visit when the markets are on, otherwise very slow! Hobart is a lovely place to visit.
