Edinburgh Gallery Bed & Breakfast

Perfect welcome for our first trip to Tasmania. John made sure we were well-accommodated, gave us clear directions to where we wanted to go, and made a few suggestions that made our trip more enjoyable.
It’s an interesting historical building that gave all the proper homely B&B feels. The location brings it within walking distance of the port, sights, and quite a few eating establishments.
I would stay here again, even just for the help-yourself breakfast spread!

Loved this place. Proper old fashioned bed and breakfast — reminds me of places I stayed in the UK as a kid.

John is a charming and helpful host, and was able to accommodate us last minute after I made a mistake in the booking.

We loved our stay at this B&B. John was super friendly and helpful. We arrived early and we were able to leave our suitcases at the accommodation before check in. John even offered us some breakfast before we headed off. He was very knowledgeable about Hobart and provided a map. The decoration was interesting and the breakfast was great with gluten free options. It was a help yourself type deal with cereals and bread etc.

Only about 1.5 km from the centre of town, this delightful and charming B&B was one of the highlights of our trip. Our host, John, was accommodating and flexible making us very welcome. Although tea and coffee options were available in the room, it was more interesting to see what was happening in the well-stocked communal kitchen. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and well maintained. Lots of old-world, classic, B&B charm here. The only issue was the noisy traffic but that's one of the drawbacks of being so close to the city centre.

I stayed at Standard Suite, 1 Bedroom, Shared Bathroom on the first floor.
Basically, a wonderful staying.
Good neighbors (That was good luck) and well stocked kitchen food for breakfast made me happy.
But I was suffered the check in problem and had to waste 90 minutes.
That was disappointing.
Still the owner took care of the house well.
That’s admired.

This review is specifically for the two twin bedroom located on the ground floor.

I highly recommend this place for people travelling on a budget. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone who have a problem with walking stairs.

The pro: Edinburgh gallery b&b is located in the centre of Hobart. It’s really easy to access and it provides onsite parking. The breakfast is buffet style and it’s free, including local honey and local farm house jam. I highly recommend breakfast and I would give the breakfast 5 stars.

The con: This B&B has shared bathroom and toilet facilities. There are two showers and two toilets shared by 9-10 rooms. The twin bedroom is located on level 1, the kitchen is located on level 2 and the bathroom/ toilets are located on level 3. Which means if you stay on level 1, every time when you want to use the toilet, you’ll be walking two levels each way. Not to mention the stairs have quite a few steps. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone having a problem climbing stairs. I would give the facilities 3 stars due to the location of the toilets.

A great stay. John was ever so welcoming. He went above and beyond in finding things and making us feel at home. The breakfast was all we needed in the morning to pick ourselves up. The rooms were clean and cosy with high ceilings. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had good pressure, although the showerhead could've been higher.

This accomodation was charming, clean, comfortable and warm. Close walking distance to Salamanca, Battery Point and city centre. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Excellent value for money. Easy check in and out, and John was very accomodation in letting us leave our bags for the day as we had a late flight out after check out.

I definitely enjoyed the stay. The host was friendly, and the place was cozy! Although the house is already 100 yrs old, shared bathrooms/toilets are renovated. It’s got a mix of the history and modern elements. I was wowed!

Absolutely loved our stay so cosy John our host was absolutely fantastic and so helpful with holding our bags because of our late flight.
Please stay here if you can it is in walking distance to everything within the CBD.

Great place to stay. Central to everything. We were able to walk from our accommodation down to the markets and restaurants. Basic rooms but clean and very affordable. Nice simple breakfast of juice, toast, cereal and coffee. John is a good host. If you are not able to handle stairs be careful as there are a few. We would definitely stay here again

Location is good and the owners are friendly. But they have some obsession with demonic ornaments and masks. The entire upper level is covered in Zulu masks and it creeped me out.
The hotel itself is also very old and run down but not too bad.

I highly recommend staying here when visiting Hobart!
John was so lovely with greeting us, I could instantly tell he was a genuine person from our first interaction. Our room was cozy and made me feel at home, it felt personal unlike other hotels. The hotel is very nicely decorated and lives up to its "Gallery BnB" title! There are many artworks hanging on the walls. Kitchen had snacks and cookies and juice and fresh jams. Wifi included. John and my father had a really long and interesting conversation which is very heartwarming as many people often brush my father aside due to his foreign accent. John personally sought us to say a meaningful goodbye upon our departure and said we were welcome back anytime.
The hotel also had private parking which was very handy!

Owner John maintained and kept this place at top notch condition. My stay here was superb and I totally enjoyed my days over here. John made us felt like home, everything we need can be found in here. We stayed at the basement and had to climb up all the way to level 2-3

Wonderful place with lots of character and history. Comfy beds and room. Wonderfully supplied kitchen open 24/7. John was brilliant with info and hints on places to go.walking distance to pier and markets. Highly recommend this place.

Nice and old house. Quite a night and not a bright room. Clean toilet and come with heater and heated bed. Nice and comfy. Breakfast is simply which is good enough.
