Duck Reach Power Station reviews
45Informative stopover at the top of the valley walk showcasing Australia's first hydro power station
Worth a visit. Great historic place, with authentic artifacts and photos.
It is right on the way if you are hiking in the area.
It was nice to walk along huge rusty pipes and cross the swinging bridge.
Free to visit at any time.
No toilet or other facilities on site.
Recommend.
Do NOT go in the rain or in leech season- we stood there for about 15minutes and had around 10 leeches running at us. 2 got on us, it was honestly terrifying. Other then the leeches, it's a fantastic spot to go for a walk.
The Power Station is well worth the look. We were quite surprised at how much time we spent here reading all the information boards and watching the video presentation.
Steep walk. Stunning place. Native cherries ripe at New Year. Hydro electric story a great town achievement from 1900's
Beautiful, easy walk to the Cataract Gorge. You do need good footwear and the track can be slippery when wet. There are some stairs to be aware of throughout the track. Highly recommend!
At the end of the hike. Nice bit of history. Impressive scenery on the way. Some steep bits and stairs so not all easy walking.
Absolutely stunning. Really great exercise up and down the steep cliff side. Suspension bridge is beautiful.
Omg I loved our visit here. I'm totally into the old engineering type stuff and Duck Reach Power Station was impressive!
It's quite a few steps down from the carpark then of course back up at the end. By the time you do the steps plus the power station you'll end up spending around 30 - 40 minutes.
If you like old engineering stuff then you'll love this place.
We walked here from Cataract Gorge and we definitely recommend doing this walk. It is all free and free parking at the Cliff Ground Carpark. It is steep but worth it. There is an awesome bridge located at the power station to walk across and there is heaps of information on the hydro process back in the day.

A really interesting historical part of Launceston. Great to see what it was and what happened. Needs a little fitness to get to
Cool bridge and lots of history about launcestons power and how it was generated.i would highly recommend head over the bridge for a quick look.
Great walks in area, watch for unleashed dogs on tracks. Interesting history lesson at power station.
An excellent way to save a beautiful old building, set in the most stunning location. Take a pair of bathers if its hot, as you can swim right underneath the bridge.
Interesting bit of history. A good little display about what happened. How it was used and the 1929 flood.
This was a good hike which was moderate grade and was also nice to go for a dip in the water whilst it was sunny
Amazing piece of history and engineering and the video presentation inside the building tells a great story of the power station.the landscape is beautiful
This place is so peaceful and beautiful. View is superb. The hanging bridge is such a historic place to walk by. Lovely to take selfie photos here. You can learn so much about the history of this power station and flooding history of Launceston. It is a short walk from the car park to the Duck Power Station, however the stairs are super steep.
It is a must-visit for someone to travel to Launceston.
It's a great walk from the first basin, and great sights of our early hydro electric beginnings.
