Dove Lake Carpark reviews
16 Changed a lot since 20 years ago.
Much improved since our honeymoon.
Large building with shelter for when the weather changes, toilets, water bottle refilling station.
Take water with you on your walk around Dove Lake.
A great days hiking. Excellent facilities, well maintained walking trails. The bus service in and out is excellent and regular.
Great scenery and great weather….
But unfortunately we couldn’t drive to the carpark and had to take a shuttle bus from the visitor centre.
Quiet and calm. Currently building a viewing platform for disability access. There is no real carpark. The shuttle park drops you off at the end of the dirt road and turns around and heads back along road back to visitor centre. It does loops. It has toilets but portable like ones.
The actual carpark at the lake isn’t accessible via personal vehicle. Signs at the Ronny Creek stop indicate only shuttles past this point. Shuttle buses with run every so often will stop at this bus stop. Bathrooms are available at that stop. The what was a carpark (about 100m from the bus stop) seems be almost at the completion of building. Possibly a new tourist information centre and cafe? Not yet available to public access. The walking tracks all begin from this central location leading towards Dove lake.
Great scenery of Cradle Mountain and surrounds. Take a stroll down to Dove Lake along the board walk and the ancient boat shed.
The carpark and bus service to Cradle Mtn are super efficient and a great way to start your visit to Cradle Mtn
One of the best national parks around Tasmania. It’s 1000% worth a visit. Drive to the dove lake and take the path to Ronny’s creek one of the best spots, you will see a lot Wombats
Im totally in love with this national park, its very very well organised here, stunning, clean, with lots of tracks for you to choose from, from easy to hard. We decided to go to Marion Lookout instead of the more crowded Dove lake. It took around 1.5 hour to reach the top, had packed lunch there and we went down via an alternative track to go back to the dove lake carpark, where we walked a part of the dove lake track and passed by the boatshed, but this route is quite difficult and very steep, please only choose this alternative route if you wear proper hiking shoes.
There is a frequent shuttle that runs every 10mins from the base car park to take you to different track, most people got off at dove lake car park. Cradle Mountain is included in the Tasmania national park pass. Please prepare enough water and some snacks / lunch to enjoy at the top! I can chill up there all day.
Park here to see beautiful Dove Lake; to visit Glacier Rock or the boatshed; or to hike the Dove Lake Circuit.
Its a car park you cannot drive to? You catch a bus from the visitors centre, once your here its the gateway to Cradle Mountain and Dove lake
I drove past visitor centre or bus station before 8am. The barrier lifted automatically when my car was stationed infront of the sensor. After hiking, I waited for the bus to come. When it did, I just trailed behind till I reached the info centre. There were frequent stops and I just waited behind patiently as I am not allowed to overtake.
Beautiful walk and view from car park. Worth doing. We did the hike on a poor weather day. But still highly reccomend going all conditions. The hike is very easy and short
It's a car park. Next to a very nice lake and mountains though The dove lake walk itself is very nice and easy to do. It says up to 3 hours for the circuit but thats on the very very very far end of what it would take normally. Most people I know do it in half that and it took my 67 year old mother 2hrs to do it easily. A magical spot and access to better/tougher tracks from here too. Will go again next time I'm in Tassie!
However you come up to Dove Lake, shuttle bus or car; it is great to be greeted with stunning views across the lake. Nice accessibility for those with physical limitations. The Dove lake walk around the lake is beautiful and easy, but not flat; it does include steps and some small section of rocky uneven ground.
There is a little building with a book to sign in at if you are going on one of the big hikes.
Signage is good. Toilets are here too, but not that great.
Make sure driving to this car park before 8am or after 5pm
Because during the bus operating hours, the road is only fit for one bus.
