Derby Forest Cabins

The perfect place to stay in Derby. Peter was the perfect host. The cabins are welcoming and cosy. We loved our stay and will be back again.

Highly recommended! The owner Peter was friendly and welcoming, so was his dog. Peter recommend dinner spots in derby, interacted with my younger brothers, kindly offered to grab us food and drinks while he was out of town and was invested in making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our visit. The cabins are warm, clean, comfortable and fully equipped. The secure bike shed and workshop, laundry and common room area are unreal. The forest cabins is by far the best place I’ve stayed and all of it is complimented by the outstanding bush land and wildlife. Thanks a lot Peter, we look forward to coming back in the future.

We stayed with Peter for a few nights in one of his cabins. We have 3 kids and we all had the best time. Peter really thought of everything! He even has special roasting forks for marshmallows! Our toddler can be a handful but Peter was just the best with him. I can't recommend this place too much. Thanks a lot again. Looking forward to next time.

We were lucky to find this little gem. Everything exceeded expectations. The facilities were well equipped for a our group stay. Great mountain bikers paradise, the cabins are well set up with bike wash and storage. Peter and dog Tux were the best hosts in Tasmanian! They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Fabulous outdoor fire pit for an evening by the fire. Can't wait for our next visit.

Fantastic spotless modern cabins set in a beautiful bushland setting only 4 kms from the MTB mecca that is Derby. Norma and Wayne are great hosts, so generous, friendly and helpful. There are kitchens in the cabins but also a large commumal kitchen, very well appointed, with an excellent bbq. We stayed here 5 days and loved it. Oh, no wi-fi and poor mobile reception. (We didn't mind a break from the tech, played games and enjoyed the serenity). TV has foxtel.

My wife and I had a lovely few days staying here while mountain biking during the day. Well appointed cabins in a beautiful and peaceful forest setting. The cabin was clean and comfortable and between the cabin and communal areas, had everything one could need. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to return ourselves!

Very comfortable, great communal BBQ room, laundry facilities. Nice to see little extras like selection of tea and coffee pods.

A truly magical place to stay surrounded by pristine nature. The cabin was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Gareth and Norma are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Loved having the camp fire at night to sit around chatting. An amazing place to stay.

A perfect place to relax with well designed and fully equipped cabins.
A short climb (or even a shorter shuttle ride) and you reach ‘Trouty’ one of the many awesome MTB trails that drop you into town.
The quality of the people running the place makes the experience unforgettable. Thank you!

We booked all three cabins for 12 Mtb riders for 6 nights. It was a perfect base for for riding Blue Derby. The cabins each sleep 4 people in the most comfy beds and warm doonas, with air conditioning to keep us northerners warm. Each night was spent cooking together at the central gazebo with barbecue, having a few glasses of vino and playing games, or yarning by the fire. Our host Gareth was superb in communication in the lead up to the holiday, and wonderfully helpful with riding advice and any other help. Little extras like a washing machine, bike shed with tools and work stands made our stay so much easier. Being away from town in the bush was lively, and not a hassle at all getting to the trail heads. We are already organising next years trip.

Nothing to fault - fantastic hospitality, great amenities, awesome location. What an amazing place, if you are there to mountain bike or explore the region, this place is perfect. Away from the township, but close enough to go join the friendly locals at the Dorset Hotel. Loved everything about it and will definitely be returning.

A great setup in the middle of the forest. Close to the mountain biking trails in both Derby and Weldbourough.
The cabins were will equipped, clean and warm.
