Davey street Medical Centre (Hobart)

Very disappointed. I returned to do my medical check-up and requested to have me fully examined due to Oedema in my legs. The doctor gave me a blood test slip as normal as I have hyperthyroidism, but this time this blood test slip also include the test for my kidney etc etc to check on my Oedema. After two weeks the GP haven’t gotten back to me and so I rang them to ask them on the result on my blood test, and I was told that if they don’t get back to me then it is nothing to be concern about. After few more days my Oedema worsens so I decided to go to a different GP and found out that based on my blood test, my kidney wasn’t functioning normally and my thyroid hormone was extremely low. Anyway, the new GP got me to scan my organs and found out that my heart had grown a bit bigger. I have swapped GP since then and only recently got discharged from the Hospital. Thank God I went for a second opinion else things might gotten worse. I hope this comment of mine will be beneficial for others and save someone's life.

I do not to go to doctors every other week, rang to make an appoiment amd was told that i am not a reqular patient. And my doctor dont have time to see me! Wow i was speechless. I am still a patient requardless of how often i go. Doctors now changed! If i could rate 0 i would.

Very friendly medical practice, medical receptionists are warm & welcoming, nurses are always kind, caring & gentle & take the time to listen & just chat. Dr Yong is very attentive, listens without making you need to hurry out the door. Highly recommended Dr Yong

I was early as usual. I got in there at 12.30pm. I was in there and another patient too. And he called my name out and I was surprised to see him
prompted. My appointment was 1pm. 10minutes later the second patient there. And the doctor gave me the flue vaccine already. He is a good doctor and done my flue vaccine because there was no nurse to do so. And that was it and a prescription. Job well done.

Avoid having an appointment with Dr Tracy Rush at all costs! I had the WORST experience I have ever had today. She was dismissive, felt like she had somewhere else to be. Questioned me to as why I was seeing her on a Wednesday for 2 different treatments (she is not my regular GP, but due to the nature of 1 of the treatments I was booked with a female instead of my male GP). She said only nurses can do the treatment and they have no nurses of a Wednesday. I explained the appointment had been changed already by her staff, and they didn’t mention this her response was “I’ll have to do it then”.
During the specific treatment she was rushing, at one point I asked for a break which she just kept going. I was brought to tears. She then finished the appointment with prescribing me a cream “since I can’t handle it” - quote Dr Rush. I have never had an issue in the past with the treatment I am getting, and the nurses have been nothing but kind and caring!
I had full intention of discussing 2 other personal things in this appointment but didn’t even bother because of how I had been spoken to / treated already. Not good enough and after reading other reviews online (after my appointment) it seems she has herself a bad reputation with this sort of thing. Disappointed and refuse to ever be seen by her again.

I would absolutely not recommend Dr Tracy Rush regarding mental health services. She rushed through the appointment and did not make me feel comfortable at all. I was after a referral and she called the processes bull$@*%, wrote down an incorrect diagnosis, and wrote question marks next to my current diagnosis but did not talk to me about it. She also made inappropriate remarks discouraging therapy. I have seen her 3 or 4 times and none have been great, but the appointment described above means I will not be seeing her again.

Receptionists have all been great, and the practice is nice.

Spotless consulting rooms, staff super friendly and helpful and Dr's attention to detail extremely professional. After 18 years for me.hasn't changed.well done guys!

Always been helpful, and ive never had to wait for appointment, if anything have been in 5 minutes earlier, clean waiting rooms

I am giving The Davey Street Medical Centre Five Stars due to the excellent doctors and services personally had no trouble making appointments also the centre has two decent size waiting rooms which is good for social distancing. Parking at the Medial Centre in Davey Street is OK on St. Davids Park Side some 2 hour parking or Salamanca multi-storey car.

Watch out for Sarah at reception, that she doesn't over-charge you.
Dr Rush was too greedy to be a good doctor. Was hurried along and saw another doctor appearing to do the same.
If you want a family-type practice, try elsewhere.
Charges too much for too little.

I have been attending this medical centre for many years. I can’t speak highly enough of the Drs who have looked after my health.
A new Dr to this practice, Dr Anam Asad was today full of empathy for my current problem and I appreciated her concern and excellent advice and treatment.
I also wish to compliment the reception staff who I find polite, helpful and efficient.

Definitely would NOT recommend, now heading back to my regular GP (as appointments are difficult to get) but will not use Davey street medical again. Dr prescribing a drug that works similar to penicillin to someone who clearly states an allergy to Penicillin "just to see how it goes" because "you don't have many other options. (like its a choice to be allergic)
Clearly wanting to hurry the call along and did not perform due diligence.

Absolute extortion, was charged $87 for a 47 second phone consultation, only given two repeats for medication I am to take for my whole life. Finally after 6 phone calls back and forth I managed to contest the charge as i was seriously taken advantage of. Receptionist was horribly rude and unhelpful. Do yourself a favour and find a different practice, money hungry and don’t care at all about the patients needs.

Been going here for years, when they were at salamanca, It seems the practice manager and useless receptionists over ride doctor's decision's. Thanks Mary cannell, INCOMPETENT Wouldn't recommend this practice, If you ever decide to bend over backwards to help my situation, I recommend you don't, as you were no help to me at all. Just made my medical conditions worse.

Dr Yong was helpful and kind. He also listened attentively to my situation, respecting my judgement and autonomy, and provided me with the support I needed to feel well and safe.

I have been attending this practise for many years. The doctors have always been friendly, attentive, thorough and proactive. I feel confident that I am getting the best care possible. I am always given the opportunity to ask questions and any health issues are taken seriously. I think the continuity of care, as provided by this practise, is very important.

Unfortunately the front desk let's this clinic down - sloppy and belligerent - this is a doctors surgery - not playschool - get it together.

I was extremely fortunate to have Dr Scott Finlayson at the Davey St Medical Centre. He was exceptional in diagnosis for my condition (a rare skin condition) and immediate referral. His diagnostic abilities are unparalleled and my ongoing thanks to him and the team at the Medical Centre. I wish there were more stars to rate them.

$80.00 for a 30 second phone call to renew a script? I was unable to get my routine medication today because I did not have the $80 and apparently my doctor cant bulk bill a call anymore with out a concession. Even though he has done, for as long as I can remember. I understand if this was a longer consult for other reasons but its literally a renewal of a medication I have been taking for years and now have to miss. Cheers!
