Cruickshanks Lookout reviews
12Part of the Leven Canyon experience. Beautiful well kept area, and the views are amazing. Recommend at least a full day and add the river walk as well.
Amazing place, one of the top in Tasmania and maybe even in Australia! Awesome views! Can be cold and windy even in summer!
Such an incredible view. I loved it! There are two walks there and staircase in between them.if you wanna climb down the steps do the Cruikshanks lookout first.a must visit in north central tazzy
Yeah, really nice seeing the megaannums stretch out before you. Good view. Take the hundreds of steps down to the other lookout for a different (and imho slightly better) view
Amazing Vista over a gorgeous tan coloured ravine. Well worth the comfortable hour to do a round trip to both lookouts
Well worth the walk, can get very windy and be warned to take the top track unless you are very fit
This great lookout will make you feel so small. Offers breathtaking view of river and mountains. Recommended visit during sunny day, otherwise it may be covered by clouds. It is easy to reach from picnic area, but beware if you go down to Edge lookout first. There are about 650 steps and the hill is really steep.
A truly beautiful place to visit and take in the view. The climb up to the lookout was reasonably steep, but not outrageous and there are plenty of benches built along the side of the path as little rest stops and each has an indicator of distance to the top. My 3 and 4 year olds were able to walk the entire distance by themselves, we also noticed a few retirees that were able to make the hike.
Well worth the drive.
Totally worth the drive and walk although it's not as accessible as described with a large steep concrete hump in the path just short of the lookout. Views are wonderful. If you are doing the circuit, go to Cruikshanks first so you can go down the 600 or so steps to the canyon floor. If you go the other way, you will be going UP the steps. Altho it is a good workout
Nice forest walk to spectacular lookout. Do the walk in an anticlockwise direction to avoid a long walk up stairs.
This was a hidden gem off the main road and not very well advertised but worth the drive in to see the view
What a great afternoon. A well laid out Park with ample parking, shade and picnic tables. Easy access to Cruickshanks Lookout provides spectacular views over the canyon and the Leven River. For those not fazed by a moderate walk out can descend 697 steps through the forest followed by a short walk to the Edge Lookout providing a different view of the Canyon. To complete the experience follow the signs for a short drive and walk into the Canyon floor at Canyon View.
