It is a pub?
It is fine dining?
It is a gasto pub?
Nobody knows, a bit of everything, seems like.
Prices are surely from a fine dining restaurant. 17 dollars for a pint, a regular ipa? SEVENTEEN? Are we serious?
28 dollars for a parmi with just a tini tiny bit of cheese and tomato on top, a very tiny handful of fries and no salad. Just sad. At least they had the decency of not charging for tomato sauce and aioli, but still.
Laughing with my mates before ordering food I was like "I feel like parmi, but I'd be pretty disappointed if its not good for 28 dollars. ", I was right, unfortunately.
Big fat no for me.
Beautiful old pub with a different food selection than normal pubs. Shame not more people were there for lunch to enjoy as we did.
Delicious food, particularly the schnitty and steak. Cocktails are also fantastic, and the bartenders can go off script in a good way.
Lost one star for service as we sat upstairs and there was only one waiter serving us, he was amazing but a bit overrun.
Nice looking pub too.
Undoubtedly one of the best eateries in Hobart.this is a quality restaurant.relaxed staff.great menu! Perfect atmosphere.
Wow a great place for a meal, really exceptional quality of food, great friendly staff and lovely environment. For a small out of the way pub it was an awesome surprise. Would be a regular if I didn't live in SA!
Long overdue Friday lunch with some school dads. The beef cheeks were outstanding, melt in your mouth and perfectly complemented by the lentils and pumpkin puree. Still dreaming about them.
Quaint, historic.homely gastro pub. We had a wonderful lunch, nice wine list too. Lovely service too! We'll come back
A nice, clean pub with a great array of beer and wines. The host (Tash) was so lovely and welcoming. The quality of food was so much better than we were expecting for a standard pub. We ordered the chicken parmigiana & chicken pie, both delicious. They were even nice enough to make a plate of steamed carrots for our 7mth old.
A great and unexpected find!
We were looking for a new Pub to try for an evening meal, never been to the Crescent so decided to go. Extremely impressed with everything about it from the moment we walked in. Great feel about the bar/lounge area which is where we had our meal, the service was perfect, the food was impeccable, great choice on the menu. The busy entertainment area was upstairs so there was noise separation which meant we could have a quite conversation downstairs which was also busy and the prices were very reasonable. In summary we could find no faults whatsoever which is extremely unusual. We will definitely return very soon! Highly recommend the Crescent.
Great food, friendly staff. It was a hot day today and the outdoor dining was a good temperature. Inside was all right if you weren't in the direct sun. Good array of various beers.
A real favourite. Consistently good food and service. Menu has interesting and seasonal choices covering all bases. Drinks also of a high quality, this place keeps getting the job done to a high standard.
Went for an early evening meal and sat in downstairs bar. Only one or two other patrons which suited us. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good variety on menu at good prices. I had bangers and mash which I thoroughly enjoyed, my g/f had a steak which was cooked to her taste. Bar was spotlessly clean. Several people came through to dine in the outdoor area upstairs. Highly recommended.
Fantastic food at a great price and excellent service. Some unusual and delicious vegetarian options too
Fabulous Sunday night dinner last night. The bar was quiet and staff super friendly and helpful. Husband had great sirloin and I had veggie main. They didn’t have the bottle of wine we had hoped for but thrilled us with an alternative. Super fresh and tasty food. Warm olives. Great polenta chips and straciatelle to start. Beautifully presented. We’ll worth a visit.
Helpful and attentive service with some great vegan options and dietary flexibility. A really great night out.
Excellent food quality at reasonable prices. Great drinks offering and very easy going and accommodating staff. Been there 7 or so times and never disappointed.
This pub has been on my "to visit" list for a few years now. Finally got in. On a cold Hobart afternoon it is warm and comfy. The service was great, and the decor has a very historic feel to it. If you are in Hobart get up to North Hobart for a visit to the Crescent.
Tonight at the NHYC (proud member here) which is housed in The Cresent Hotel I had THE prettiest lamb pie* I have ever eaten. The pastry was delicate and beautifully decorated, thin and crispy, and so shiny I could nearly see my face on it. Every bit of the interior was filled with juicy slow-cooked lamb, no air or filler sighted. The creamed greens were well done, simple but complimentary to the pie. Dare I say it could have used a crack or two of black pepper, but that's just me, I like pepper.
*I've just been told that this style of enclosed meat pastry is called a pithiviere. Fancy!
Nice local pub in a pre modern building. Friendly staff and food looked good. Inside and outside seating available.
Friendly pub with pleasant atmosphere.
Good to see the North Hoart Yacht Club still alive.
