Extremely beautiful views up the top! Climbing to the peak is physically demanding, however if you are relatively fit you shouldn’t have any issues. It is a must go if you are visiting Cradle Mountains.

Climbing to the top is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Follow the guide posts on the way up. A bit of rock scrambling involved. Coming down felt easier. Had gorgeous weather and apparently day before, it had rained, so it wouldn't have been safe to climb and possibly not great visibility. Go when it's good weather.

This is a challenging climb, mainly because it involves rock scrambling and actual elements of free climbing in parts. You don’t need climbing equipment but you do need to be prepared to pull and lower your body weight to get up and down the mountain.
I attempted it in the rain which makes it more challenging, because the rocks are slippery when dry let alone wet.

I hear the views are magnificent when the weathers good! Just be aware the weather can change at a moments notice

Summit trail - Such a beautiful and fun hike. It took us a total of 5h 45min to complete the summit trail, with a lunch stop of 1h15min.
The duration of the hike explained in the information centre is really generous if you are experienced, but good if you are a begginer.
The last part of the hike to the summit is kind of difficult (and super fun). You need your hands to climb that last part (which takes around half an hour).
The views are absolutely stunning.

A fairly difficult scramble requiring a high level of fitness. Beautiful views! About 2 hrs from the cabin that says 2.5 hrs

Wow what a hike! The end is hard work but well worth it for the view from the top. Need water and food of course there is actually a toilet just before the summit which was a surprise. So much scenery on the way. Well worth the trip to Tasmania just to see it

A spectacular experience on a clear day. The rock scramble requires a good level of physical fitness and a head for heights, but provided these requirements are met it's a fun and challenging climb to the top. The way is well posted and the popularity of the park meant that there was plenty of company.

The face of the mountain is rugged and impressive. The views from the top are a welcome reward for your effort. I had a great time and would recommend it to you.

This is a iconic walk in the national park and is quite a steep walk. We walked to the sumit in may and although there was ice up the top we were still able to make it to the top. It was an amazing hike and had amazing views.

Amazing hike, with the right shoes and some gloves definately achievable in the late May snowy weather.
We could only reach the first ridge or false peak on the face you hike up, rock scrambling in snow on icey boulders without gloves takes its toll and became quite dangerous at the top
Started from dove lake at 11: 15 and got back for the last bus at 4pm
Unforgettable.

I have been before back in 2018 unfortunately we weren't permitted to do the Cradle Mountain Summit due to the cold weather conditions. This time round, the weather was on our side. The park has significantly upgraded with a visitor centre and numerous shuttle buses to preserve the roads around the park. It's no wonder as it is a huge tourist attraction. Despite the Hustle and bustle, the trail to Cradle Mountain Summit is worth it. You get to see Mount Osso (tallest mountain in Tasmania) and as you approach Cradle Mountain, you know you have to climb up rocks. If you have a fear of heights, this will test you but take your time going up as you will be rewarded with an amazing view. Overall, a fun and exhilarating hike/climb for those that are adrenaline junkies.

Make sure you are fit enough and not alone when you try the summit. There would be some difficult bouldering at the last part of the climb.

Beautiful fair walk through lakes and alpine scenery, then the top gets very steep with clambering over rocks needed to finish with unbelievable views

Spectacular views and the hike itself is very exciting and beautiful scenery along the whole track.

I have the summit hike in March and in September. Both times of the year offer quite different experience.

The last 200 or so meters is very steep boulder hopping often on all fours with very exposed rocks. It can be a bit challenging if you're not so comfortable of heights. However, the effort is well worth it and very rewarding!

Easily one of the best summit hikes in whole of Australia.

The hike has a reputation for being difficult. I found it challenging, as you have to be able to lift your body on top of large rocks, but not too difficult. There are no large drops right next to you, so if heights are a problem, it’s not too difficult. This isn’t “Angel’s Leap” at Zion.
Once you reach the top you will probably want to spend 20-30 minutes there at least, as it offers views across the whole of Tasmania. It’s also quite large and will take a while to explore.
The advice is to avoid the climb if it’s rainy or cloudy. I did it on a sunny day.

Hard scrabbling up thr boulders. A challenging hike, but rewarded by splendid views of the surrounding mountains!

I tackled the summit walk as someone with good walking fitness but limited technical hiking experience. It was doable, but I turned around before the actual summit due to time constraints. Definitely take your time and allow enough hours to complete this challenging boulder scramble. It's not just a few boulders, either - most of the walk from Kitchen Hut consists of these large rocks. Slow going, but amazing views if you're there during good weather.

This hike is sensational. Can not reccomend more. Fantastic day trip. We did it in the middle of winter and so would advise a high level of fitness and confidence. That said it is must do!

Can be a bloody tough time to get to the summit (there’s a lot of scrambling over rocks involved), but it’s a rewarding climb, and the view is gorgeous on a nice day.

For the advanced hiker this is an excellent challenge to conquer. It's definitely not for the below average level hiker as it involves climbing over very tall rocks.

Hard work but worth it! I didn't quite make it to the summit, it got a little bit to steep climbing up the rocks right at the top. So close!
