Chudleigh General Store reviews
22 It was a shop with an atmosphere that made you feel the good old days.
I wandered in, and the owner, a woman, spoke a little Japanese and said she had studied abroad in Japan in the past. He was very friendly and nice!
I had a meat pie and a hamburger, and the meat pie was so delicious that it had a home-cooked taste that you can't get anywhere else (the hamburger was also delicious).
Be sure to stop by when you visit Honey Farm!
I went on my honeymoon in May! It's in a great location if you're heading to Cradle Mountain from Launceston.
Recommended if you want to enjoy local pie and atmosphere!
The wife, who had previously stayed at a homestay in Tokyo, was friendly and had an impressive smile. If I go to Tasmania, I would definitely like to go there again.
Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed a nice local craft beer with my burger. Owner was very nice and the shop had a charming historic feel. Definitely recommend.
Home-made pie & chips. Home-made burger & chips were both a great feed, the coffee was good. Nothing fancy, value for money.
This place has the best roast pork rolls I've ever had! Awesome service and definitely a stop worth making!
Popped in recently for a quick takeaway snack as we'd missed lunch. The owner was SO friendly and offered to organise a hot meal for us - even though it was about 3pm! We were happy with the last sausage rolls, and they were really really really good! Friends have had awesome burgers from here too. The shop also sells wonderful hand made local craft gifts - "unique" and "weird and wonderful". I was so impressed by everything!
Such a gorgeous little stop. Mandy is so friendly, and amazingly efficient! Fantastic menu. Fish & chips, steak sandwich & chicken burger highly recommended. Chips are delicious and generous.
Stopped in for a meal and was surprised at how generous the serving size was! The shop owner really cares about the place and looks after it well. Will definitely come back!
Called into the Chudleigh General Store this morning & was greeted by Mandy. What was only going to be a quick coffee ended up being nearly an hour. The cakes are home made by Mandy & the carrot cake was amazing. We left there feeling very uplifted.
Loved it loved it. Great staff, fantastic scrambled eggs and bacon. Good coffee. Well worth the visit!?
Stopped at store for first time. Welcomed warmly by Mandy who introduced herself. Stopped for advertised home-made meat pie and it was great. Will certainly be back, even if only for the hospitality. Thanks a lot for being there.
The very definition of perfect countryside general store.
Mandy and Belinda are absolutely wonderful and amazingly welcoming, and the foods, drinks and company are all fantastic.
Ash and I will definitely be returning, not the least the for the fascinating conversations by the fire initiative!
Dropped in for a quick lunch and glad we did. My burger and chips was superb and quite generous for the price, and the chips fully "house made". My partner's soup was very good and came with generous buttered rolls. Lovely quaint atmosphere and the owner is delightful with a lovely sense of humour. Recommended.
The Hearth of Chudleigh offers a chance for all passerby's to slow down and experience "the good old days". Mandy has done a fabulous job bringing back to life this 1886 general store offering freshly cooked cafe meals, wholesome convenience foods and local crafts in such a quaint setting.
If you're a fan of old fashioned, friendly and personable service then this is your place!
Was quite busy but only 1 person on im from Canberra was in no rush she was doing her best I enjoyed the food and coffee we stopped in to support local buisness
Absolutely brilliant! Some of the friendliest service I’ve ever experienced! Mandy went out of her way to make us a delicious home-style breakfast! This place has character, charm and a warm, welcoming atmosphere! I never leave reviews but this place deserves a good word! Worth even just walking in to have a look and a chat! Thanks so much Mandy!
FUNNY, ISN'T IT, THAT ALL OF THE BAD REVIEWS, BAR ONE, ARE FROM MEN. WHY, WOULD YOU SUPPOSE, THAT IS?
This store was my " local " 43 years ago. The owners knew everyone in the area. Built around 1860. Great store, great snacks, great coffee.
Love our local store and Mandy the owner is so friendly and such a beautiful person to talk to.
Rude, abrupt, not one smile. $10 eftpos minimum is annoying. Took probably 15-20 minutes to get a small snack and unreasonably priced.
