Cataract on Paterson

This was the best restaurant we tried in Tasmania. Ingredients fresh, service fantastic. Value for money for the kind of quality food we had.

Took my grandchildren (10 and 11) for a special Halloween dinner that I hoped was going to be special and it was, from the moment we entered we were acknowledged, the decorations were amazing, our waiter (The Local Sherriff, as per his costume) could not do any more to make our dinning experience great, he was not just attentive to me but also acknowledged and spoke directly to my grandkids answering my gransons questions about what he wanted to order in a way my grandson fully understood, great work Cataract staff and a massive YEEHAA to our Sherriff Waiter.

Group of 24 of us over 2 tables. No complaints of any of those meals. Always great service and delicious food. Halloween addition was an awesome experience and made us all laugh.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration last night. Also, it's Halloween theme and it's pretty cool and awesome. Food was great and yummy.

I went there for my anniversary dinner. I knew it was the Halloween theme but I did not realise I would be charged a sneaky Halloween surcharge on my bill. Even though we asked for the no scare card.

In my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in Launceston, with friendly staff, amazing meal selections and delectable desserts!

The menu is amazing. Food can be hit and miss at times, so it probably depend on the chef working that night or maybe an inconsistent supplier? Menu includes vegetarian and vegan options, and staff happy to accommodate these options. Menu is quite vast and slowly rotates which is nice to see new options. Staff levels seem perfect, staff are attentive and friendly.

The atmosphere while nice is far too crowded, and they do same thing most restaurants do where they try to fit 1.5 people per table. (Example 2 tables joined will fit 8 people total, 3 on each side and 1 on each end). This is annoying as the people on the ends have significantly more table space than those crammed 1.5 per table width. It's disappointing and cheapening when you have a restaurant that is obviously marketing itself well, to then cheaper themselves by trying to cram as many people in as possible, which is very obvious when you walk in and notice the chaotic table arrangement.

Tldr: Menu amazing, food amazing but can be inconsistent at times, Staff perfect, atmosphere while nice is incredibly crammed.

Modern decor and lovely ambiance. Extensive menu at reasonable prices.

The stone grill was FUN and meant I could cook my steak exactly how I wanted it- would highly recommend this.

Kitchen was overrun and we had to wait over an hour for our main dishes. Staff apologised but we weren’t offered any compensation.

FOOD quality was 5/5 (points lost on service)

Steak was the 300g Scotch fillet cooked medium rare. Entree was the octopus and potato skins. Dessert is the panooki.

Loses a couple stars due to the service and incredibly long wait time for food (over 70 minutes). We ordered our meals at 6: 45pm. Our entree arrived within 20 minutes at 7: 05pm. However, we did not receive our mains until 8: 20pm which really dampened our experience.

Great atmosphere, great food
We were a part of 4 had the shared seafood platter, ribs and duck. All were amazing
Ribs were sweet and succulent, duck nicely cooked, seafood platter for 2 can feed 3 comfortably.
Deserts looks amazing but after the mains (and we didn’t have starters - i don’t recommend as the portions are too large) we didn’t have no space for them (that’s a shame as we really wanted to try).
Note for managing: reduce portion size (reduce cost a bit) and you will be able to sell more of your deserts and starters- which will increase your sales bottom line

The food, the service, the ambiance everything is spot on. Will definitely visit again and recommend to all my friends.

The Web site menu differs from restaurant menu. Unfortunately the ran out of oysters the day I went. The $28 fish and chips was nice. The salad was over dressed but delicious and fresh

Went here for a late birthday celebration as a dine out with a mate. Meals are well worth the price and bursting with flavour. Staff were lovely and took care of us.

Cataract on Paterson has a lovely, charming and warm environment with exceptionally friendly and welcoming team. Service was phenomenal and menu choice is fantastic. And most importantly the food is deliciously outstanding! Would highly recommend and will certainly be visiting again in the future.

Cataract on Paterson is our go to place to enjoy a meal out, the atmosphere is great and all staff are so friendly and helpful, large menu range including Vegan options.

We heard really good things about this restaurant and we’re excited to dine here, it wasn’t a bad experience by any means but we left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The food was just ok, in fact our entree and one of our mains was a bit on the overcooked side.

Great Vegetarian selections and options. The BBQ jackfruit tacos and jalapeños poppers were finger licking good. The Potato Gnocchi was melt in the mouth.
The desserts are to die for! Food & Drinks, Service and the ambiance is top notch and is a must visit restaurant for anyone visiting launceston.

Love it here the food is amazing. Love their cocktails. Staff are very impressive. We will be back
