Cataract Gorge Cruises reviews
31Must do when in Launceston. Recommend to walk the cataract gorge first day to tea house and, catch the chairlift and enjoy walk back stopping in at local watering hole afterwards. Last day enjoyed walk to cataract gorge cruise and gain a different perspective and such fascinating knowledge and history. Young skipper with seagull tattoo on his arm was professional, great skipper and answered everyone’s questions and shared amazing history. 5 stars
Fabulous cruise and well worth the $$$s. Excellent commentary and lovely afternoon tea then wine tasting later. Highly recommend.
The perfect day. Sun, no wind just the slightest breeze and the best time to go, 1130. The captain was lovely, answered any and all questions. Trip was toped of by two fabulous australian fur seals basking on the rock in the Gorge. Planning on doing the lunch cruise next. Thank you for a lovely morning.
It was an amazing experience, knowledgeable and friendly crew.
We went out to hells gates and down the gordon river, stopped at sarah island and stopped off at franklin gordon wild rivers national park. Weel worth the expense and they served a very tasty bento box for lunch. The snaks and drinks on board were very well priced too.
We did the Lady Launceston tour today and loved every minute of it. It was even better than earlier one I had been on. The skipper was helpful and so informative and the section of the tour pertaining to the Gorge itself was superb at a super slow pace. So much time to see the changes to the rocks and the birdlife. If you are looking for a respite from the hustle and bustle of city living, this is the way to go. I have no doubt I will use this tour again. Thank you, Cataract Gorge Cruises
The river and views are nice but i when i asked why the cruise is so slow it is due to the speed limits. I asked this question after coming back to the reception as i dint want to spoil the mood of others who were meditating in the slow boat. Was shocked to see everyone was so quiet and sitting like a statue. I agree the views are beautiful to see but something is there about the culture itself that people are this way. I am not stating this is bad but it frustrates me personally because all other countries i have visited have so much excitement and energy in these kinds of activity but Australia (culturally) and the sense of tourism is too too poor and lacks great deal of maturity, thoughtfulness, commercialization and energy (liveliness).
Thank God we took this boring 50 minutes (supposedly 10 mins with normal boat speed but 50 mins with Aussie approved speed limits). Had i taken the 2.5 hours cruise (sorry it is not cruise but almost harbor itself floating) i would not have probably needed to sleep for the next 7 days. Thats how boring it would have been.
This was heaps of fun. We went with our kids. The skipper was so great: very knowledgeable, very friendly and great with our kids. The views of the gorge were beautiful, it was a great way to see it. Highly recommended taking this trip.
Fantastic service and knowledgable driver who was great with my 4yo. It has regular services great pics in autumn and winter too. The boat leaves from seaport so plan for a meal before or after. Two parks within 10 min pretty walk for the kids too.
I really loved my 50 minute Cataract gorge tour as the scenery was so gorgeous! I also had a really nice and knowledgeable captain who provided lots of great information about the history of the weather. I will definitely do this tour again when I am back in Launceston:).
Informative cruise. Very knowledgeable Captain who made sure the children were entertained as well. Would recommend.
Good cruise with friendly captain who gave us lots of interesting information. Good thing to do
Loved the trip I took several years ago. Went to book to take my wife on her trip to Launceston this visit. Price is now beyond the average person, so won't be going again.
We thoroughly enjoyed the knowledgeable and witty commentary by the captain. Even the gentleman manning the office was super friendly and helpful.
Make sure that you keep the "boarding passes" for a range of lifetime discounts on local venues.
Great introduction to the history behind Cataract gorge and it's contribution to Tasmania. From the water to the cliffs, the piers and the boats and ships that used the gorge. The captain keeps up a great banter about different areas of the cruise and how or why it has had an impact on Tasmania. Thoroughly enjoyable with some really great photo opportunities.
30 min cruise.not what we expected.gorge started at bridge and ended a few metres up the river.
Beautiful cruise. Nice staff with interesting explanations. Toilets on board and enough space to move on the boat.
Great place to enjoy with family and dear ones. Excellent food, river cruises in the Tamar River. Nearby to city centre.
A must do! My partner and I did this cruise in January the staff were wonderful, the knowledge and rich history learnt on this cruise had us fall in love with Launceston.
First class experience! Staff where the best, super friendly and knowledgeable. A must do activity when in Launceston.
A wonderful way to see the Tamar River and Cataract Gorge with great commentary, food and wine along the way! Fabulous customer service and something everyone should do if they have a few days in Launceston.
Thankyou Denise and Geoff
