Burnie Regional Museum reviews
22A free museum run by locals showing off the history of Burnie. A must for anyone visiting the town.
We found it very interesting and enjoyed it. The two lady volunteers were very knowledgable and added greatly to the visit. There was no entrance fee but you could make a donation. Definitely worth going.
Great display. Friendly staff. Free entry. Donations help the museum and you can choose a gift.
Amazing!
Worth a visit.
A Nice place to show many things to our kids
Absolutely recommend that to visit here
Awesome museum showing the history of Burnie and the area. A must-see for any visitors to the area. Staffed by the most wonderful volunteers sharing their knowledge and passion for the town. Easily one of the best historic museum experiences I've had.
It's worth visiting here as it takes you back in time to an era uncomparable to today. Free entry
We came to Burnie as part of a stop with the cruise ship, we were shuttled to the Museum and gallery, met by a wonderful deputy mayor and spent the next while looking at the display of the rebuilt old town and then gallery, a fab experience if you’re not doing a tour off the ship or just driving into town
We visited the museum during our port day on the cruise from Melbourne. The mayor came out to greet us and there's a little market open for our visit outside the museum. The museum itself is so well maintained and volunteers are great helping visitors if needed. No admission fee, donations welcome. There's a Federation Street inside the museum which I love and found it very impressive. Highly recommend you go visit the museum and give the volunteers a pat on their back for their excellent efforts.
Very well set up with enthusiastic volunteer staff who were very helpful and keen to explain the exhibitions
Free entry, donations requested. Contents of private collector. Outstanding displays. Well worth the visit. Thanks to the volunteers.
An absolutely fabulous museum.the "street" was so authentic and included sound effects of everyday life.plus the 2 lady volunteers were amazing and so knowledgable.keep up the good work.
A great capture of local history and reconstructions for display. Staffed by volunteers who are both knowledgeable and helpful. Some amazing work being done to digitise and archive over 1.4 million historical and fragile acetone based photos
Disappointed that this place wasn’t open. We had fond memories the last time we came a few years ago.sad
So so. Static display with an historic street scape of old shops and the usual associated fittings. Lacks a little of the authenticity and most particularly the interactive nature of larger places such as Swan Hill Historical Village and Soverign Hill
Not easy to find! Tucked away. Friendly front of house staff member. Entry free for locals. Stereotypical of many historical museums. A little too manicured and the street scape although made from original materials not truly authentic of what conditions would have really been like. Swan Hill and Soveriegn Hill have more to offer plus the interaction!
A very detailed presentation of what life was like in 1900 by a little street of rooms of shop fronts fitted into a smallish building. Well suited to educate kids of reading age to discover how much has changed in 120 years!
Very well done and very informative. The museum and it's artifacts brought back memories of the good old days. The village is recreation is excellent.
Burnie council must ensure they keep supporting this for all visitors from wherever they may come from.
Good to see a community saving items of past years and volunteering their time to show groups of people how their grandparents and great grandparents how they lived and worked to earn a living. Gfriendly
Well worth the visit. Staff member was very helpful as this was our 1st visit there. Things were set out like an original town in the olden times. The place smelt lovely. All it needs is fridge magnet of the museum
