Bruny Island Cruises reviews
100Unfortunately the seas were very rough and the captain turned our boat around when it became clear it wasn't safe to proceed, and several people were sick. A partial refund (about one third of the total cost) was provided. The staff on the boat were professional, friendly and caring. However we were disappointed with the overall experience. We feel that we should have been given the option to defer our cruise by a day or two when the seas were better. We asked about the sea state at check in and were told there might be a few bumps but that's all.
Went on 6th Jan 2024 for the second time. This time with family while the first was with friends almost 10 years back. Was wowed last time and this time too. Even in summer it can get freezing and cold. So wear give amount of protective clothings to cover the body.
To the staff - very well organised cruise. There was a couple who got on to the boat without tickets. They asked us what the process is to book and inspite of telling them to go to booking center, they said will check with the staff on boat which they never did. We did ask the staff on the boat how they check if everyone has tickets but they just got busy. Strongly suggest you do a check of actual tickets when letting people onboard. It’s a loss of revenue for you all. Shame on those couple.
We stopped in for quick lunch & coffee! 5 star salad & art installations! Coffee ok too! We come back island cruise on sunny day!
Had a great experience on our Bruni Island adventure. At first we were a bit hesitant, but first Cam and then in combination with Tom provided a truly memorable experience seeing nature at its best, from a close encounter with a hump back whale breaching close to the boat, to numerous seals. The humour kept everyone entertained. But we aware, you need to take plenty of warm clothing as it sure gets cold. Thanks everyone for a great day.
Had a fabulous 3-hour experience appreciating and learning about the rugged beauty of the coastal landscape and the amazing wildlife of South Bruny.
We marvelled at the Fluted Cape, the Monument sea stack, sea caves and Breathing Rock blow hole and were up close at The Friars admiring the fur seals. We spotted dolphins and sea birds, including a Giant Petrel!
I did get sea-sick (twice) despite taking medication and wearing sea bands but the friendly Captain and Deckhand offered lots of reassurance and great tips which minimised the discomfort so don’t let the thought of being sick dissuade you from enjoying this truly awesome experience with expert guides.
Fabulous experience. I highly recommend giving it a go. The staff were highly knowledgeable and entertaining.
Did the full day experience with 3 hour cruise. It's a full on adraneiline rush because we got so close to the cliff and got to see seals and a whale. Highly recommended but you will get wet and the water can get rough. Our guide, Kieren was super knowledgeable and went out of his way to help.
Amazing trip, learned and saw so much great coastline, Jamie, Ash, and Mick were a wonderful crew, Jamie especially was entertaining and informative, thank you!
Sorry shouldn't have commented as we didn't take the cruise and our star rating was really about a meal we had, which was ordinary. We have done the cruise in the past and it was 5 stars.
Getting in to the tour location is a good journey. All the way you needs to cross a ferry which is pretty good experience and ferry service is good. In every 10 minutes ferry operates from both end. On the way after crossing ferry somewhere middle head on to Bruny island view point from where can take pictures of Tasman ocean in two part. Before cruise start advised to visit washroom because in boats washroom are dirty and during move because of wave are unusable. Pregnant woman, acute low back pain, prone to sea sickness and motion sickness persons may avoid the cruise. However before cruise starts they will brief in details and provide ginger tablets to avoid sea sickness. On board crews are amazingly helpful and they are good orators. Carry warm jackets although they provides additional waterproof jackets. Journey is enjoyable but not much to see. There is a good restaurant on the first floor.
The boat cruise trip offers a wild and exhilarating experience that will either captivate or challenge you, depending on your tolerance for rough seas. This adventure is not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle it, it's truly unforgettable. Our two female guides added an extra dose of humor and knowledge, making the journey even more enjoyable. Prepare to witness a myriad of sights during this crazy excursion, from mock penguins to playful sea lions, and if luck is on your side, you might even spot dolphins. For the ultimate thrill, secure the front seats on the boat, but beware if you're prone to seasickness. While raincoats are provided, remember to dress warmly as the weather can be chilly. Brace yourself for an adrenaline-pumping ride and embrace the wild side of Tassie.
You cannot come to Tasmania and not do the Bruny Island cruise. It was the best day, even though the weather was inclement. I’m not sure who are drivers were, but they were well aware of the ocean and gave us an amazing day. We saw dolphins and seals and some of the most beautiful coastline in Australia. Highly recommend
Stunning day so phoned and booked a spot on Pennicott's Bruny cruise as we queued for the ferry at Kettering - very easy to use our advance tickets bought back in covid lockdown. Got right around the south of the island as conditions were so calm. Albatrosses, seabirds, male seal colony (all the girls live up Bass Strait way, very canny), huge pod of playful dolphins on way back including tiny little youngsters.)
Restaurant staff were rude and not interested in answering customer questions.
When you take money for providing good (food + service) to customers, try to put your minimum effort in doing so.
Other restaurants on the island were more hospitable and attentive to customer’s requests.
An incredible experience from start to finish, ably 'edu-tained' on the boat by Kate and Daniel.
Mick and David hosted a journey around a magical part of the world that we would not otherwise have seen. Ginger tablets, laconic humour and great weather kept thoughts of sea sickness at a distance. We saw seals, wonderful bird life, cliffs and blowholes - just brilliant. They were a knowledgeable and experienced team, I was a little nervous but they clearly knew their stuff. As others have said, it is absolutely freezing no matter how warm it feels when you are sitting on the deck waiting to go. Take gloves and beanies and layer up. We booked only a few days ahead and I am so glad we did, it was unforgettable. Thanks guys for a very special morning.
Amazing staff and a beautiful coastline. You go up along the dramatic coast and then out to sea in search of wildlife. Finding wildlife is a bonus but don't go solely for that. The staff are amazing and informative.
How good is this trip, we enjoyed every minute. Great adventure, the Captain was really good and so was the deck hand.
It is a 3 hr cuisine. First 1.5 hr is awesome but second half is not so great. It would have been better if it was enclosed boat.
Came back for the second time. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, well organized and more or less guaranteed sighting of the most amount of wild seal you will ever see.
