Brickendon reviews
17Wonderfully historic cottages to stay in. Ours had a beautiful little garden. It was very well furnished and some of the best breakfast provisioning ever. It was our own little private haven, much nicer atmosphere than Woolmers. The staff were immediately available when needed and very friendly. It was wonderful to be surrounded by this great tourist attraction.
Very interesting self guided tour. Many original buildings still standing.
Worth the visit
World heritage listed convict site, many of the old buildings and farm equipment still there to see and photograph. I was only there for a day visit. The accommodation cottages look comfortable from the outside.
Did not stay in the Accommodation. Great for a look around/ walk friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended
Lovely historical village,
Grounds are quite messy and run down though, perhaps due to winter season
We loved Brickendon Pumpkin Cottage! Accommodation was so comfortable and well set up. It was a pleasure to stay in a beautifully kept historical building. The provisions for breakfast were very much enjoyed and the fire set, all ready to light, with plenty of wood to keep it going was a delightful touch.
The grounds provide plenty of beautiful, quiet, country vistas to enjoy and the history of the buildings on the grounds is fascinating.
Being able to bring our dog made it all the more enjoyable.
We will definitely return
Beautiful little historic cottage, perfect place for relaxation. We felt like we had gone back in time. Perfect set up for us and our 2 well behaved English Bulldogs.
Cosy, private, well prepared breakfast provisions and fully self contained for preparing dinner. Definitely will return to spend longer, one night definitely not long enough.
We stayed in the well equipped Farm Cottage that was originally built in 1831 and had a lovely time. Very peaceful and surrounded by historic buildings and widlife. We would love to stay again.
What an amazing place to visit, lots of great information from family members on site. Well maintained.
Brickendon was amazing place really loved it. Next time I will take my time to have a thorough look around. Today I was on a bus trip, we were to a time schedule.
I stayed in a cosy, well set-up cottage just perfect for my little dogs and me. Beautiful walks to the river and Woolmers, we had an idyllic country holiday.
We had a peaceful stay. Worth getting up to watch the sun rise from the cottage porch. It is a rustic, basic country cottage but I'm glad we stayed as part of their endeavour to keep the estate going. Although we didn't get there early enough to explore the estate on the day we checked in we did do it the next day however it only opens at 10am which means you will need to hang around. We did enjoy wandering the grounds and meeting several of the resident animals and poultry. Make sure you watch the Dynasties documentary when you go look at the grounds as the back story for both Woolmers and Brickendon is fascinating.
Felt I had stepped back in time. I prayed in the beautiful chapel. The detailed brochure was very helpful indeed. The buildings and history are so interesting. I recommend Brickendon to visitors but allowing time to really see everything. The receptionist is extremely friendly. The sheep, rabbit, turkeys, ducks add to the experience.
Historic. Calming and just wow. This little gem is well worth the visit. Ducks, chickens, turkeys, fowl of all varieties. Incredible information about the estates beginning and subsequent 7 generations in one family. There were easy access, very clean toilets. The grounds are mostly flat and simple to navigate for 9 years old to 90 year Olds. Give yourself an hour at least and think.about taking the walk over to Woolmers estate. Brilliant.
Relaxing family day out around a historically significant estate. Plenty for kids to amuse themselves with. Feeding ducks, sheep, chickens, rabbit & ponies.
We have so much history around tassie, Brickendon and Woolmers are just loaded. I definitely recommend a visit.
