Battery Bluff Reserve reviews
11 Interesting place to visit, easy to look around and explore. It would have been cool to be able to access the tunnels or get more info, as I didn’t feel I could completely absorb the experience or got to understand some little pieces of it.
You can probably see everything in around 15min.
Gates close at 5pm but you can park outside and access walking.
Worth the short drive out from Hobart if you love history. Free to enter. Only takes 5 min to walk around.
Very interesting historic site from when times were different. Great view of hobart. It would be really cool if there were tours of the tunnels.
Lots of potential but could do with some upgrades. The signage was rather old and the fantastic views across to Mount Wellington, the Hobart CBD and the mouth of the Derwent were obscured by vegetation. It is not clear where exactly you can/should walk around the fortifications so be prepared for backtracking and possible slips/falls as you wander around. It would be useful if a single path could be designated that takes in all of the main features with updated, sequential information along the way in order to allow visitors to get the most out of this excellent location and the history it preserves.
It is a beautiful spot and a Heritage site. Very disappointed that it was hard to find and no very well advertised. Tassie is soo good in marketing, why not this very unutilised site. Heartbreaking to see it go to waste
An important part of Hobart history not many people are aware of. Nestled on the hill and overlooking Bellerive just 15 minutes walk from the waterfront, this site formed part of Hobart's defence system. Signs dotted around the area educate you about it and the other defensive positions around Hobart's Eastern & Western shorelines.
Well worth a detour.
Great place to lookout over the derwent and gain insite into the history of the defense forces in Hobart
Unreal too see this historic place must see place great too see the old guns and all the stone work and great views of Hobart
Great views over the Derwent watching the wonderful wooden Boat Festival boats sail and motor into Hobart.
This is a miniture version of the forts dotted around the south coast of the UK. The government should make the most of gems like this and do more to promote this bit of history. Well worth the visit but shame the batteries were closed off.
Interesting historical park. Five canons were placed here to compliment others on the western shore of the River Derwent to protect Hobart from French invaders. Two guns sill in place. Access to the magazines is blocked. Information boards strategically placed. Great views.
