First time I went in the basin Cafe. When you look out the windows the view stunt me a lot. It was so gorgeous. By the way, I ordered coffee and sticky day pudding is was yummy especially when you eat with those view.

We went there just for take away coffee and the barista guy was really nice and the coffee was exactly how we expect! The view is nice and warm place for this winter

Ordered 2 meals. Caesar salad was fine but eggs and bacon was almost unedible. When we went to pay, we explained how bad the meal was and was still charged full price.

Very tasty food with a lovely, panoramic view of the Gorge. The seafood crowder was delicious on a cold day. The only issue was a fairly long wait.

Waited half an hour for a coffee… customer service was apologetic that someone else grabbed our coffees but not sincere…

Highlight was the slice…

Fantastic food, service, and view. I wouldn’t normally expect much from a cafe/restaurant next to a tourist attraction but the food was amazing - had a lovely seafood chowder, sticky beef salad, and two of the breakfast items which were also great. Lovely wait staff as well that were very understanding when two in our party were running a tad late. You can make reservations as well by phoning ahead, which was also very helpful. All in all 10/10.

Dine in and Takeaway options.
Nice Chai Latte.
Delicious seafood soup, a large serving.
Quite a wait for food due to crowds on the day of a MONA FOMA event, but coffee and cake very quick.

Travelled to Launceston with a toddler to see this beautiful place that we heard/read so much of. Everyone we met in Launceston we’re so nice, friendly and accomodating—until we met Laura (apparently the manager and daughter of the owner).

As a Mom, you would understand how picky eaters our toddlers can be. First I ordered nuggets and chips for my hungry toddler (which he had been having for 5days in a row now), when I saw they served macaroni as well from the kids menu, I added in the order coz I know how much my toddler loves macarano in childcare.

When Laura served the macaroni I asked if I can have the apple juice that came with the kids menu and she commented for ‘who the order really was for? ’ and ‘its UNSUAL for kids to order more than 1 meal’.

I won’t even start to express how her comment offended me in so many ways, in so many different levels! I told her she would understand one day if she becomes a mom too. Then she said she was a mom too! I don’t know what kind of mom she is and how she feeds her kids.

But my point is, her comment was unnecessary and uncalled for especially to a paying customer and especially from her a manager or as the daughter of the owner of the cafe. I was furious and angry but safe to say i’m still sane. Imagine if she said that to the wrong person who had a lot of things going on being a mom with all other things going on in life.

Laura you have just ruined our beautiful visit to Launceston. But that aside, Launceston is still a place I will recommend to my friends and yes this story is one for the books.

Service is fine and the view is wonderful.
Wait time for the food was way too long (30 mins +), when there was only a few tables.
Very disappointed with the food when I am paying this price, totally not worth.

Excellent service, everything tasted great with strong presentation. Also offers decent views of the gorge.

Such a beautiful area and amazing food, I had breakfast here, eggs and bacon, perfectly cooked and amazing service, the ice chocolates are to die for. They were decently packed but despite that, our food didn't take long to get to us at all. Definetly would recommend.

We had a fantastic experience at the Basin Cafe - one of the best breakfasts we had during our visit to Tasmania! The food and drinks were great, a wonderful atmosphere and most of all the staff were friendly, welcoming and so attentive! Highly recommend!

Review of coffee only. Venue (park kiosk across the basin) and staff are both great.

However, after near-weekly visits over an 18 month period, we have the following feedback:

Given the glut of amazing coffee roasters in Tasmania and on the mainland, we wondered why you'd use Vittoria? Suggest using a better quality bean, it gives a better product.

Train your staff on making a consistent coffee, we never knew what we were going to get from
visit to visit. The cafe is in a wonderful location and as a coffee shop could do better, it'd be win-win for everyone.

A lovely cafe looking out over the parklands, river, gorge and chair lift. We stopped for coffee and cake before exploring the park, we didn’t realise you could order a more substantial meal as it wasn’t on the board at the entry, only once we’d order and sat down we saw the larger menu on a laminated sheet on the table. What we did order was lovely and much needed on a cold (2°c) morning before doing the chair lift across the gorge.

Nice comfy cafe with great drinks and menu. We had the seafood chowder which was great. Chips were alright. Drinks were brilliant, especially the coffee and freshly squeezed juices.

Well over priced for fairly average food
Soup was served ridiculously hot, could of put it in a freezer for 5 mins just to be able to eat it
