We were very excited to come and stay at the rooftop penthouse of the Avalon City Retreat, and I have to say it was one of the most inspiring experiences we've ever had. When we walked in the first thing I was struck by was how much like being above a mini New York Central Park the view was, it felt like we were in our own private world up there. The lovely hostess Amanda was a blessing, showing us the depth of the attention to detail that had gone into the space and creating this experience.
That evening we decided to just stay in and bask in the luxury and ordered room service from the restaurant across the street, the eye fillet with gorgonzola sauce was amazing and my wife had only good things to say about the chicken.
The City Retreat is by and far the best hotel Ruth and I have ever stayed in, all the fantastic little details are what really made it such a tremendous experience - like the outdoor bath and the moon chair, down to the retreat pepperberry toiletries that my wife liked so much she wanted to take some home.
We will definitely be returning and we plan to bring friends with us next time for our wedding anniversary.
