I'm very concerned, my daughter had her first ever appointment with a job agency as she is straight out of school. Firstly they changed a contact appointment to a phone appointment. She was told to look for 8 jobs, even though she has just got a casual job on her own and she is studying. The lady said she will talk to her in 3 months. How is she to do this with no support for 3mths and no one to one contact. Mmm not very helpful. What help us she receiving from this agency.

For the past year I have been required to attend this office once a month to inform my assigned provider that I was still meeting my 'mutual obligations'. But unbeknownst to me I had been taken off Newstart and onto Youth Allowance almost an entire year ago with Workskil failing to inform me that I was not required to be affiliated with them anymore.
I would never have known either if I hadn't contacted Centrelink for an unrelated matter and been informed of this revelation, as Newstart and Youth Allowance payments appear the same online.
Inside sources tell me that it's likely they purposefully failed to inform me so that they were able to keep their government funding from my attendance.
If you attend this office, it's because you have no choice in the matter, so the only advice I am able to offer you is to have your wits about you and remain vigilant. It's not that they don't want you to get a job, they are so inundated with work, they don't have the time to help you. Just do your part and gtfo asap.

It's alright, the staff didn't do much in the way of helping to assist to find a job. The building is old and stuffy and in dire need of renovation.
