Wirraway Homestead Youth Centre reviews
23It was good, although they made us do chores on the camp, and the dorm I stayed in had no bathroom but other than that it was great, good activities and nice staff! The chicken in the chicken wraps was weird but the other food was good.
I went to this place with my school, for a camp 3 days and 2 nights.
They were really nice and it was a lady called Lizzy, she was for some of my activities, she was so kind and nice.
The food was good but it was less.
And the dorms were some small but it was clean.
The activities I enjoyed it was horse riding and archery.
I recommend this place for school camp.
Amazing place, i've been coming here for nearly 5 years. Some of my best friends were made while on camp. The staff are amazing, and yes I am that kid who is always hanging out with the horses (sorry Judith haha) I look forward to every holidays because I can come back.
(Hamish if you see this add a dollar to the jar)
My daughter had a 5 day camp and was well looked after with a great variety of activities. Some facilities are a little rundown, but overall, it's still good.
Great place for school camps, had a lot of different and pretty cool activities which the school staff were able to join in on for some of them. Some of these activities included horse riding, whip cracking, shelter building and an obstacle course. The food served for the staff and kids was quite good and in good portion sizes, the sleeping arrangements were adequate as well.
Very poor supervision of children. My child was physically attacked (bruised ribs) by a larger child during free time. No staff around when attack happened. No understanding of trauma responses in children. Avoid sending your child here if you want them looked after. Their definition of a Safe Space doesn’t stretch to stopping bullying or protecting children from physical harm.
Was sent as a school camp a few times in primary school.
The councilors were heavy handed with their attempts to convert the (public school) children.
Many wound up in tears, and 'converted' out of guilt and pressure.
This just gave the councilors more power in in peer-pressure when it came to the other students.
My strongest memory (other than the non-stop Veggie Tales, and friends crying on their knees in guilt for something they didn't understand) was picking up a peacock feather.
One of the councilors saw me, and told me I had to pay for it.
I dropped that feather, and any chance of trusting religion.
Wirra way home stead is really different when you actually see it you actually think that you are in America looking at a old cowboy town, it's worth a look, it's. A school retreat a place where you can ride horses mix with other people it's a Christian, Retreat and have many different games you can play, has a swimming pool and more
Wirraway Homestead Camp is on Old Bull Creek Rd, about 3km west of Strathalbyn. It is a farm property with accommodation units suitable for school camps. In rolling hills they have horses, sheep and grow cerial crops. It is an active farm for children to experience.
Amazing place, nothing else like it in SA.
My daughter loves going every holidays and is really annoyed that i went there for my school camp twice but her school has never been.
She's looking forward to next year as she'll be old enough to be horse help
My first camp as a year 7 was AMAZING! I loved it. There were lots to do over three days. The activities were wall climbing, bush walking, sheep herding, archery, an obstacle course, a object hunt and my favorite horse riding.
In our spare time there was a swimming pool, trampolines, mini golf, and different types of games. The staff were very funny as well and there was yummy food. One night we all went out on a walk to collect a stick to roast marshmallows on a fire yummmm.
I really enjoyed it especially the horses I loved everything.
My cousins son went for a school camp and loved everything about from the arrival to the departure activities and hospitality was excellent we thoroughly recommend this place
Best camp food ever. Best people. I spent most of my school holidays here, first as a camper, then as a helper. Feels like a second home/family.
My happiest memory and saddest cause i couln't stay forever. Wish i could. Loved the horses loved everything best camp.
My daughter went there and she came home witso many stories to tell and with a big smile on her face.
Excellent school camp and activity centre for upper-primary aged classes. Kids loved the food and favourite activity was the trampolines.
