Western Tavern reviews
58Service was great, a lady named Julie was so sweet and took such good care of my family. Food was so good and totally worth it. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area
Food was good and not a bad selection of salad and hot food in self serve warmers.
Only 1 person on service, so serving, cleaning tables etc on her own, one quirk I have is in a little germaphobe, purple let kids run all over the restaurant with really bad sneezes and constantly, then the waitress word the tables without any cleaner only a cloth in this establishment the cutlery is already on the tables in holders exposed to anything airborne
The carpark and entrance are dark, very little lighting.
Been coming to the Western for Wednesday QuizzaMe Trivia Nights and been having a lot of fun, the staff are friendly and bubbly
The pie l ordered was cold and my cousins were Luke warm and the service the waiter was nice but when l went to complain there said the f word
Some have had bad things to say about this place. I found it pretty good. I can definitely recommend the lamb shanks. My friend had the rump steak and was well pleased. Pricing was pretty good too.
Great service and great food!
We pulled out all the stops with entrees and mains. My partner and I were looking for a quiet evening and a yummy dinner, and we got both!
Special shout out to Brittany, what a star! Really friendly, and made our night. =)
Good food options, and fairly good prices too, we'll be coming back soon.
Attended the venue on a special occasion with family and noticed the kitchen staff or whoever set up the bain maree's and gravy table set it up back to front.
As a hospitality worker of 25 years, this was not planned out well. People lining up to select foods and having to excuse themselves to get to the gravy. Gravy belongs at the end of the line. Its a condiment, as do the bread rolls, salt pepper etc. The salads were average, nothing outstanding. Their was no gluten free option or vegetarian option for those who cannot eat meat or items with wheat in it.
Another thing I also noticed was when I went to the toilet, it was hard to enter the cubicle with the baby change table in the way. My question is, why was it in there, it should have its own space.
And NOT sure whats going on in this tavern, cos my mum whose in a wheel chair had to do her business in the dark because the light didnt work in the wheel chair toilets. I had to use my phone torch to supply her with light. Not happy!
Was there last Tueaday night for dinner and tried the Rump steak special. Cooked to perfection and also had the hot vegetables which was delicious. Service was really good and food was there on time as they calmed
It took for ever to get served food the cook was extremely slow a hour for sosages and mash and snizzle and chips not hard I could of made it quicker. The bar staff are absolutely amazing and nice.
Brilliant quiz night- Wednesday-
Never laughed so much
Great entertainment- good good food and fun
I have not had a good meal here for years I keep saying Il give them another go but sadly last night it was not good again and I will never eat there again. Will say the desserts were good but that's all.
As visitors to Mt Gambier we went to this Tavern for dinner. The receptionist/bar tender was very abrupt and told us to take a table not reserved. Which we did and that is where we sat. After sometime we went up to the bar and asked when would we be served. She again was abrupt with her instructions so we decided to just leave and find another place to have a good meal.
Real old school pub food.
No fancy pants bs that has no place on a counter menu.
Steak was spot on. Fantastic feed!
Food was below average salad bar was not topped up I hope the western gets a better chef my daughter had a bad experience with staff regarding kids I have been to the tavern many times over the years and never had a bad meal until now I hope they get back on track
Visited this place whilst in Mount Gambier recently. The food was amazing, the service ok too
We had amazing meals and Julie is a excellent bartender who is very meticulous with what she does.
Today we had a very good experience at Western Tavern in Mount Gambier.
What most got our attention was how incredible Mrs. Julie was with us and actually the all team was incredible.
Thank you so much, probably tomorrow it will be our last day here in Mount Gambier, but we will be here tomorrow again!
Thank you so much,
I ordered the beef schnitzel, chips and mushroom gravy, all was bland, chips were soggy, I had some stuff from the vegetable bar, the cauliflower bake, potato bake, it was very milky not much taste.
A good pub meal thou they had run out of barra. Heaps of parking. Friendly staff. Reasonably quick service.
Great value and tasty meals with quick and friendly service by staff. All-round nice setting and an option to be served at the salad bar too despite COVID restrictions. Would recommend!
