It was one of the best experiences. Nico and Dhea made us feel like home, they are very welcoming and they have great attention to detail.
The rooms are big enough for a family and they accomodated an extra bed for our son. The rooms have an outstanding view to Island beach and Brown beach.
Rooms are a bit old but very clean and they had told us they had plans of renovating them soon.
Worthwhile a visit if you are going to KI, they are only 1h drive worst case from the best spots in KI.

This is the most beautiful place to stay and great services provided by the owner of Wonder rest Dhea. The best fine dining in Kangaroo island. Strongly recommended for the 7 courses meals which provided by the chef Nicole’s from Argentina!

I highly recommend Wanderers Rest. We cannot thank Dhea enough for the warm welcoming and for being so helpful. We will definitely stay again at Wanderers Rest the next time we come back to the Island.

Rooms had a great view, new owners are extremely nice and generous, and the food was just amazing. Cannot say enough good things about the meals, the chef sure knows his way around a wood fire grill and it was some of the best meals I've ever had.

Our family had a great experience here with hospitable owners Dhea and Niko. A delicious coffee by Dhea with a buffet of breakfast options available everyday. Niko's eggs are amazing and having something different everyday was a bonus.

We can't thank you enough Dhea for always going out of your way to make us feel at home. It was an absolute pleasure staying at your b&b. All the best to you all.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating of my last-minute booking. The room has a fantastic view and the included continental breakfast was very good, also in a dining space with a great view of the bay.
On the downside, the room is pretty old and the floors kind of creaky. But it was clean and comfortable.

The place is in terrible condition - mould in bathroom + ceilings + curtains, the ancient air conditioner looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years (it might actually cool the room if it was clean), the floor is super creaky so you can’t get up without waking the other person and same with the fan it wasn’t useable as any setting over 2 would be so loud. The towels and pillows were awful, you would think at $250+ a night you would at least have a clean room, a soft towel and comfy pillow. Funny how we chose this over Mercure even though this was more $$$, worse place I’ve ever stayed - would not recommend.

We enjoyed our stay here amongst the birds nesting in the tree in front of our balcony with stunning sea views. The new owners are welcoming and helpful. A great coastal nature walk just down the road. I can't wait to come back to see what they do to the place.

Great location halfway between Kingscote and Penneshaw. We had 5 nights stay and tripped all over the island from here. The owners had only had the business for a few weeks when we stayed. They were very friendly and willing to assist. Too cool to use the pool but will be great in summertime.

A friend and I had the misfortune to stay at this place for 4 nights After having travelled extensively, this was one off the worst places I have stayed in (worse than hotels in some of the 3rd world Asian countries visited). While there are lovely views from the balcony, the website is certainly misleading - advertising a non existant dining room. Breakfast was not even offered. Whilst our visit was expected, there was no milk provided on arrival, and had to be requested from reception. It was lucky there was anyone there, as reception was rarely manned. We were given ph numbers to ring if we required anything. Most of our calls went to an answering machine. A request for additional milk on day 3 (only a tiny jug provided day 1) was provided with milk past it's expiry date and was rancid to taste and smell. Took another 24hrs, 2 messages left on the office answering machine and finally a ph call to a mobile number to get fresh milk. Rooms were not serviced at all - bins were never emptied and we were told if we wanted fresh towels, to leave used towels outside our door. On arrival, we were told that they were currently renovating. We neither saw nor heard any renovations during our stay, and the owners were never on-site to supervise any said renovations. If the owners want to remain in operation, they will need to abide by the offerings on the website (breakfast, dining room, pool which was empty during our stay, among other things etc) be accessible and provide reliable service.

We were very pleased to use a voucher that Wanders Rest kindly donated to the bushfire fundraiser & certainly don't want to complain. But. &. We understand about Covid etc.but reading past reviews we saw the same complaints raised numerous times. We offer some constructive feedback here:
*1st impression was one of a rundown, tired & unwelcoming property
*Be contactable
*Read previous reviews & address the issues raised
*communication needs to happen, not just improve
*filthy windows in rooms & restaurant
*rooms could do with spring clean
*smelly towels & other peoples hair still caught in towels
*2 light globes not working in ceiling lights
*continental breakfast delivered daily would be preferable rather than 5 days at a time
*general presentation of gardens was poor
The staff were pleasant & we enjoyed the restaurant meal. We don't mean to offend.

This was the worst place we have ever.stayed. The room was musty. Stains all over the carpet Hadn't been vaccumed in ages. Breadcrumbs under the toaster. Furniture old and tired. A pump that keeps you awake all night. An overpriced restaurant. They rate this place 4.2 stars. I would rate it a1. Lousy customer service.

Website is deceiving it makes it sound like it is luxurious maybe 30 years ago now it’s very tired and musty smelling view is nice if you don’t look down can’t comment on service as there was none very over priced will not be going back

Food was nice, we had surf and turf, the steak was a bit tough and dry on the outsides, cooked ok, side salad was delicious, the chips went soggy as they were swimming in some sort of cream based sauce.
The hosts were a bit hit and miss with customer service.
Definitely country cooking and atmosphere, so do not expect fine dinning.

I never write reviews unless they are really great and then we will post positivity because we know how hard it is to be a business owner. However, this place is shocking and by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I've stayed all over Australia, America and Vanuatu. I would beg my friends and family not to visit this place because I would be concerned if they were so feel obligated to share our experience with other travelers.
The owners are extremely rude and the owner Kim is a bully and personally messaged me very rude remarks after I mentioned that I was concerned about the service we were receiving. Instead of trying to help make our experience a more pleasurable one she said that we can leave and stay somewhere else but we had paid in full and they were not willing to refund our money.
Upon checking in we were not greeted and were sent to the wrong room upon entering were told it was the wrong room and to go into room 5 which we did. Upon entering there was mould in the bathroom and public hair all over the bathroom sink. They are called a bed & breakfast but we're not offered breakfast. We were also not given shampoo or conditioner. They do not service your room including making your bed, providing clean towels or emptying your bins it is expected that you do this yourself even after paying $180 a night I would think they would at least provide clean towels and toiletries.
Once I questioned about the cleanliness and breakfast that is when the owner was very unprofessional and personally contacted me. The plates and cutlery they provide are also dirty and I found dried food on the plates it is expected that guests wash these themselves in the bathroom sink and it is clear that they don't go over them to clean it once the guest has left.
The disappointing thing is that the hotel has amazing potential it is in a great location. Also Kangaroo island is such a beautiful place. Everyone else on the island and all the tours, farms, wineries and experiences were run by such beautiful and kind hearted people which is what had me so shocked.

I'm not sure how they have had such good reviews in the past but perhaps they are going through some stuff but until something is done about the service or the attitude of the owners I highly recommend staying clear of the place.

Terrific stay for four days. Everything was laid out so well with really good meals and great guests for company.
