Under The Mount

We had such a relaxing experience at Under the Mount. Super comfy beds, cabin was very clean, and location is superb with short walks to the pubs and shops. We sat by the fire pit enjoying our wine! A great place to stay.

Great place to stay for hiking, biking and also night photography. The skies are clear and dark which is great for photographing the Milky Way.

We recently stayed for the weekend with a few other families. It was so much fun and relaxing.

It’s such a great setup, comfy, well appointed ensuite rooms and bunk rooms for the kids. The communal spaces are a great place to hang out, particularly around the fire.

The venue caters really well to the needs of mountain bikers with places to store / charge bikes and a bike wash station.

The shared kitchen facility is brilliant a large and clean space - love the labels on all the cupboards!

We also took advantage of the multitude of food and coffee options literally just around the corner.

Melrose is a friendly welcoming town and well set up for tourists.

Kristen handled our complicated booking with ease, we felt very welcome on arrival.

A fantastic place to go. We have been a few times, it's always super clean, the hosts are always welcoming and it's in a great location. The communal kitchen is really well equipped. We will definitely be back.

Rooms are very comfortable and clean with our own private bathroom. Great location and every amenity for bike enthusiasts, cleaning station, storage etc. A fully signed communal kitchen with plenty of fridges, sinks, microwave, large oven, plenty of kettles and toasters and lots of space. A separate games room for relaxing or a game of darts. A firepit to sit around for those cooler nights to exchange stories also. They have thought of everything here and in a quiet setting also.

We like this place, because it is in a pretty little town with heaps of walks and bike trails. The place is always spotless, and the community kitchen is well organised and equipped, and there is plenty of space for several people/groups to use it.
A bonus for us is that it has 2 EV destination chargers.

Great location, walking distance to everything in town. Owners are fantastic and really care about the town and their establishment. Always clean and organised. Plenty of available facilities and amenities. Suits riders but also great for singles, couples, families. Always a story to tell around the campfire of the adventures of the day. Definitely recommend.

We loved our stay at Under the Mount. It was clean, comfortable and had a well equipped camp kitchen. It was peaceful and had lovely surroundings. We would highly recommend you make a booking to have a short weekend getaway for stay longer to visit the attractions at Melrose and the beautiful Flinders Ranges.

We just had the most amazing weekend at under the mount with our entire family staying for a birthday celebration. The rooms were exceptionally clean, beds comfy, and the communal kitchen was so well equipped which made catering for our massive family so easy. I would recommend this place to any one, particularly if you are travelling as a large group. Beautiful firepit, places to wash your bikes (not that we needed that) but basically they have thought of everything. Setting was magic. We will most definitely be back.

We stayed 4 nights in this beautiful place. Wonderful hosts that were there to help if we needed them, great outdoor area around a fire pit, with trees all around, well stocked huge communal kitchen and dining area, indoor table tennis area, clean large rooms with super comfy beds and in a great position in the beautiful town of Melrose. We could walk to pubs, cafes, walking trails and bike trails… and we used the lot! Highly recommend for a group stay. We were a group of 14 and it was perfect. Don and Kristen, the owners, were wonderful and there to help us in a thunder storm with lighting and anything we needed!

What a great spot, they’ve thought of everything. Loved the set up and appreciated the warm comfy beds.

My friends and I stayed in the comfy Under the Mount cabins last weekend and had a most excellent time. Winter had turned on its best face, the town was alive and the trails were stunning. Mount Remarkable provides a spectacular and dramatic backdrop for the town and stands ancient and grand. It is simply beautiful.

As always, UTM had everything we needed and everything was clean and well maintained. It was great to see a new stove cooker in the large communal kitchen and the new security screen doors on the cabin were a smart upgrade.

Its not all facilities either. Kristen and Don and excellent hosts. They greeted us on arrival, chatted about our adventures and got a proper campfire going each night. It was great to sit around and chat to them and the other guests. Very low key and restful.

UTM are also closely involved in the development of the area and trails. Like the other local businesses they are passionate about the town and area's potential. They don't just provide accommodation, they are part of the experience.

Melrose has reached a new level with the fresh MTB trails at Willowie and the brewery restoration providing an additional place to socialise. What a place, I can't wait to get back.

We have stayed at Under the Mount for the last 3 years in July and thoroughly enjoy the whole experience. Communal kitchen, games room and fireplace are a winner. Kristen and Don are always welcoming and helpful hosts. Hope to make the "No Lights, No Lycra" next year)

We recently stayed in a family room at Under the Mount which was very comfortable and warm with the ac/heating unit on (very welcome when staying in the winter).
We took advantage of all the facilities, communal kitchen (where we sat with another family staying at UTM whilst we were there. We played games and had a great chat for hours), the games room (the boys played table tennis and attempted darts), the communal area outside (table and fire pits, for roasting marshmallows at night), pump track (again for the younger boys) and we were able to wash our bikes too!
Don and Kristen always had time to talk to guests and were very knowledgeable about the area and gave recommendations on what we could do or see.
We wish we could have stayed longer but will be back very soon.
Highly recommend UTM to any type of visitor - biking, walking, families, going with friends or on your own. The accommodation suits all and the town is beautiful and tranquil as well as having plenty of trails to explore!
A lot happening in Melrose over the next few years, a great reason to keep going back!

OK, but very noisy group who did not keep their kids under control in the common areas and were filthy in the common shared kitchen.

Location of UTM was great as just a couple of minutes walk to the swing bridge where many trails start. Don & Kristen are great hosts and lots of thoughts were put in to make the place feel more than just a stay: Communal kitchen was spacious, well equipped and well organized with a big screen TV with Netflix on show. Game room, hi-tech laundry machine, comfy beds, Tesla EV sockets, campfire pit and long table outdoor were all bonuses to complement our stay.

We said we'd be back and 2 years, this place didn't disappoint. All the comforts of an Airbnb in a relaxed camp-like environment.

We stayed 4 nights at Under the Mount. The overall experience is very good. The room is big enough and the bed comfortable. The features we liked the most were the great shared kitchen and the shared open camp fire area.
