Truly Malaysian Village (previously known as Dapur Jiha) reviews
25My friend said this is the most authentic Malaysian place, and they were right! The food was amazing! Loved their beef rendang!
I think this is by far the best place to have Teh Tarik in SA. The taste is nostalgic! Piping hot, full of tea flavor and sweetness is perfect!
We had nasi lemak ayam berempah, as takeaway. Omg. Nasi was fragrant and chicken was delicious.
I'll be definitely be coming back soon (for the beef rendang credit)
Whenever we miss Malaysia, this is our go to place. Owners are friendly and kind. Taste is amazing. We ordered signature Nasi Lemak and Daging.
Authentic Malaysian food and snacks. Check their social media before come because they change thier menu every week.
This was a place that I've been wanting to try for ages and was looking forward to having authentic Malaysian food. Unfortunately we didn't like it.
We ordered cold teh Tarik, fried chicken rice, fish rice and some kuih. The drink and kuih were way too sweet for us. Our order was wrong and Staff were mixed up with our food. Our fish was overly cooked, dry and hard.
Excellent food, homely atmosphere and great value. The enthusiasm and appetite of the clientele indicated the food was very authentic. No alcoholic beverages available, but a broad range of milk teas.
Adelaide offers some great places to eat out but I always felt it lacked a good authentic Malaysian place. This place has the best, authentic tasting Malaysian food that Ive had in Adelaide (and I’ve been to most of them if not all) my only criticism would be the menu is fairly limited and I would certainly be going there a lot more often if they start doing a good laksa!
I came during the weekend for the dinner, and they only serve several special dishes. Limited choices.so you have to call and ask what menu will available for dinner. I booked the restaurant before I came. No wonder it was crowded, because their meals really beautiful, nice and authentic. I could say that it was authentic Malaysian taste. I ordered everything that they have on Saturday night, unfortunately I did not take the picture, because when the first meal served and I taste it. I forgot everything. Their Chicken or Beef Mee Rebus really tasty, Lamb Shank Curry (came with Rice) also very recommended, Fried rice (came with the eggs, Bilis and chilli) was really really beautiful and the last Ayam Berempah was really really good.
Now I know where to go when I craving for Malaysian Meals. Truly Malaysian Village
Very nice malay food, very authentic however lately you have increased the prices a lot so not going back any more. More expensive than Papa Rich and Indulgence and it may be the most expensive Malaysian food ever.
Good the Beef Rendang Rice and a Teh Tarik from this place. Beef Rendang (curry beef) tasted good and there was plenty of
19 dollars. The Teh Tarik (milk tea) was 5.
It was about 2 hours from closing on a weekend and the Nasi Lemak (coconut milk rice) had run out. Or it is not served on Sat
It is served on a Thurs, and I got the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang. Tasted very good. Exactly as how it tasted from a well known place in Malaysia. Must have been about 24 dollars
Transported back to Malaysia! The food (rendang and ayam perempah nasi minyak) is magical. Just spicy enough.i would have preferred a bit of fat and more moisture in the beef but it was fabulously done. Tried the petai dish as well but didn’t think there was enough petai. Overall, Well done!
Best Malay food so far comparing in Melbourne and Adelaide. Authentic and pure taste of malaysian food. Make a booking cause this place gets real busy.
Tempat ni memang layan. Kudos to akak yang super friendly.
Dinner at @trulymalaysianvillage: no frills, delicious Malaysian food!
.
Nasi lemak ayam berampah - Malaysian coconut milk rice with tried chicken, sambal, anchovies, cucumber& boiled egg: super yummy fried chicken! Tender and juicy.
.
Nasi lemak sambal sotong - Malaysian coconut milk rice with squid sambal, anchovies, cucumber & boiled egg: super yummy squid with such a tasty sauce.
.
Bandung ais: sweet drink with condensed milk and rose syrup.
First time to try Truly malaysian village today - it was a truly wonderful experience the depth of flavour the nasi kandar fish curry had was amazing
Will definitely be going again and recommending my fam and friend terimah kasih!
Very authentic Malaysian restaurant, you are welcome to order anything on the menu and would never gonna be wrong. Their Nasi Lemak was top notch and the fragrance was strong, we loved it. The Chicken Skewer is 10/10 would definitely recommend anyone going for it, must try with the peanut sauce! They do “weekend” special, meaning you could try something new going back every weekend!
What a gem! Authentic flavours and utterly delicious. The service is very friendly and welcoming. The rotating weekend menu keeps it interesting as well. Will keep coming back. Great teh tarik!
Our very first visit to Truly Malaysian Village and I would say it's truly a great experience.
My family of 5 came on a Thursday evening on Australia Day and we were lucky to get a table without any reservation. Had a brief chat with the friendly lady at the counter and she mentioned that the crowd could possibly be due to the Public Holiday and also dinner time.
We ordered Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah, Nasi Lemak Kari Ayam, Nasi Ayam Sambal Udang Petai, hot and cold teh tarik and bandung ais.
The kids loved the Nasi Lemak, and I particularly loved the Sambal udang petai. Teh tarik was smooth and rich too! Pricing is reasonable for the portion. Truly authentic and delicious meals!
My kids commented that they would love to dine there again and I cant agree more. Do make reservations to avoid any disappointments.
Great little homestyle Malaysian kitchen. Really nice traditional food. Menu changes regularly so always something new to try! Will definitely be going back.
An absolutely phenomenal hidden gem! A true taste of malaysia right here in Adelaide. I recommend calling and making a preorder because the food sells out fast!
Authentic Malay food!
Always been a fan of your Nasi Kerabu, the sambal and chili is spicy & I love it!
Tried the ikan bilis bun for the first time, I heated it in the oven for 10 mins (not microwave), and it is goooooood.
Dessert & teh ais reminded me of Malaysia.
Keep up the great work! You guys boleh
