Updated review. I loved it! The new opening hours and number of delicious treats are perfect. The shop looks amazing - bright, welcoming, clean and yummy. I didn't want to share my mango passionfruit croissant, but I had to. Amazing. Tart mango curd, passion fruit custard, stiff meringue top, crispy case. Yum, yum, yum! I will be back! Parking is available on the surrounding streets. Enjoy ;0)

We tried one of each of this week's offerings.
The +
Cool marketing. The demand and hype is there.
My partner loved the Basque cheescake thing
The flakiness. The layers. The temp/freshness
The -
The almond croissant tasted like an overpriced baklava (I would know Im Middle Eastern) They said they revamped their almond croissants so I cant compare to their prior- but I can compare to the cafes a few steps away who make fantastic almond croissants for the same price$$

Overall
When ure paying a premium you expect high quality and for me Sugar Man did not deliver when you compare to other options nearby.

The Sugar Man is truly a hidden gem located on Hutt Street, and their unique operating schedule only adds to the allure of this bakery. I heard about the Sugar Man from my colleague who lives in the Adelaide Hills! Open exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays, they have created quite a buzz with their delectable pastries, available only during the weekend from 10 a.m. Until they run out.

One of the exciting aspects of The Sugar Man is the weekly anticipation of their pastry menu, which is unveiled every Friday, keeping customers on their toes, eager to see what delectable treats are in store. During my visit in early October on a Sunday, I arrived just before 10 a.m, and while the doors were still closed, a substantial line had already formed. The wait was worth it, as the queue moved quickly once the doors opened.

I couldn't resist trying their almond croissants and a chocolate chip cookie. The almond croissants were nothing short of heavenly, with a delightful fluffiness and an incredible taste that left me craving for more. The chocolate chip cookie was equally impressive, both in size and flavor.

The Sugar Man has certainly left a lasting impression with their outstanding pastries, and I can't wait to return to explore more of their weekend delights. If you're a pastry enthusiast, The Sugar Man is a must-visit spot that promises a delightful experience.

Excellent fresh pastries on weekends! Definitely recommended. Chocolate variety is interesting, tried a jam croissant one and was exceptional!

Great croissants every Saturday, with a different selection each week, with innovative and creative flavors! Great chocolates too!

These croissants are easily the best in Australia. I just got back from Melbourne where I queued for over an hour for the famous Lune croissants. They did not even come close to the Sugar Man’s offering. The attention to quality at every stage of the process really shines through in these pastries - we honestly do not know how good we have it in Adelaide. These are WORTH queuing hours for, and if you preorder you don’t even have to wait.

Delicious. Not made for sharing, best eaten whole by 1 person. Get there early, as the place is getting popular and stuff finishes before closing time

Some people travel across the world to sample the finest pastries across the land. If you're an Adelaidean, look no more! Put away that $3k saving for flights to Paris, and all aboard the S. S Sugar Man - destination.flavour town! Population: deliciousness. This diabolical Sugar Man has something special happening in his store and the only way to know is to try it out yourself!

I sampled 3 items, the biggest cookie ever created in man-kind, a yuzu croissant banger, and the piece de resistance; the godly choc-almond croissant. Flaky, soft, crispy, gooey, endorphin inducing, flavour exploding, cloud-like, unicorn - any amazing adjective to describe pure bliss - please insert here. Cause the Sugar Man is that, plus x3000 more. This isn't just any artesian bakery. It's an institution! In fact an experience that will change your life!

This place I totally recommend for people who also enjoy mascavato for this place has some really good and unique pastries and really yummy drinks, which included just a small ice chocolate for me! The pastries are so unique to the shop itself, with all the different shapes and topping, flavour but I would totally recommend any of the nutty croissants!

Amazing chocolate! I visited the sugar man after a recommendation from a food tour guide while visiting SA from interstate. The owner was lovely and explained the selection of chocolates to us, which are insanely good. Definitely recommend, I will now have to find out if they ship interstate!

What an A grade treat for Adelaide.

So impressed with the presentation and the quality of these gourmet delights.
Staff are beautiful and make everything with an attention to detail you can taste.

Go ahead…try one of everything! I plan too.

Best croissants I’ve ever had! Better than France-best in Adelaide. Flaky buttery pastry-full of chocolate-the sugar man is amazing! This is quality at an affordable price.
