The Lucky Guy reviews
23Had lunch at Lucky Guy at Firle. Nice place, venue is spacious and food is great. I particularly love the singaporian laksa and char hor fun. Their serving size is decent and price is OK. There is also plenty of parking at Firle but can be busy at certain days.
Came in yesterday for dinner with my family and the food was amazing, very authentic Malaysia food. The customer service was also exceptional will 100% be back.
Bought 3 serves of spring rolls expecting the little spring rolls you would normally get but instead got 4 large large spring rolls in each serve that tasted absolutely magnificent.
Overall great quality food
Very tasty Thai food. We ordered the chicken wings that were perfectly cooked (the kids loved them!). We shared a main of chicken with chilli and basil and the flavours were amazing! Great service as well. We sat outside and had a great family meal.thankyou
Good modern décor, friendly staff and good service. Menu items have very fair prices, not cheap but definitely not over priced.
Items ordered:
Hainanese Chicken Rice
S&P Squid
Kway Teow
Food was tasty and came out quickly.
Chicken rice was tasty, not too heavy on flavour; more on the delicate side where you appreciate it more as you continue to eat it. Chicken portion (thigh baby!) was large.
S&P Squid was bland, needed more punch in both saltiness and pepper.
Kway Teow was tasty, good portion size and good amount of chilli. Was towards the sweeter side, personally I prefer a saltier style but nothing against their choice.
Would come again! 4 stars only because the food items ordered were a bit all over the place in consistency of flavour but that's all personal, your tastes may vary.
We thought we'd try this little restaurant as it's close by, very happy we did. The food was fresh, hot and the service was great. The restaurant was very quiet (not unusual in these covid times) but they seemed to do a good trade in takeaway/deliveries. We will definitely be going back to try more.
We had the kway teow and the soft shell crab bao. Both dishes were very spicy although it did not state on the menu. It would be nice to know when a restaurant puts chilli in their dishes as some people don’t like chilli or are allergic. Overall a decent meal and would probably return and ask for no chilli next time.
One of the kitchen staff was NOT wearing a mask over his nose/mouth! While I was dining there I saw him walk in/out of the kitchen area at least 5 times (inc handing me my food) & all those times his mask was worn on his arm (what is the point?). Absolutely not acceptable Covid practice.
Food was underwhelming considering prices are higher than average. Portion size is quite big, but I would much prefer better taste than bigger portion.
Absolutely incredible value for money. Food is very flavourful and the serving sizes are very generous. Had the Kway Teow and it ticked all the boxes for me.
Had take away a few times from here does not disappoint! Truly authentic thai. The kway teow, green curry & set pepper tofu oh and the sweet and sour pork are all our favourites. A must try!
We order 3 meals and all is tasteless.very bad for Malaysia food and the size is too small for that prize.please make food with passion, not just making money.
Good luck
Won’t order anymore
Ordered 7 mains, rice, entrees, take away at a certain time,
Delicious, Hot, Ready and fair price,
They care about the food,
and big serves also.
P. S. Beef cheek sauce could be kicked up a bit, needs fire.
Will be back real soon.
We had quite high expectations for this place as we've had a good experience with Hawker Walker. However we were quite underwhlemed by the quality of food considering they're at the higher end of the price scale. The curry laksa was thin and flavourless - once you've scooped out the noodles there was about 3 tablespoons of broth left in the bowl. The chicken rice was plain and not very fllavourful; the chilli sauce was a let down too as it too vinegary to my liking. There's definitely many other (Malay) asian places satisfy your bellies with. 2 stars
There was hair in my food. Took it back and they gave me a new meal, though it came back out suspiciously fast. The staff are really friendly and the place looks clean despite this.
Been there quite a number of occasions. Some dishes hits well with our Asian taste buds, but there are a few misses as well. Service was great though with friendly staff.
You are the lucky guy, we are the unlucky girls. The food is overly sweet and salty. The pork belly was so sweet and the fried rice on the other hand was so salty so we have to order extra plain rice so that we can eat our meal. Can give the Singapore laksa a miss completely, maybe call it curry noodle perhaps.
Great food! Fried rice, pork belly, pad Thai was delicious, highly recommend to everyone. Definitely will come again
Very clean decor and good service. The young guy was very polite and automatically offered kids bowls and utensils. Every dish we ordered tasted authentic. Portion sizes for the noodles were a bit smaller but they are enough of us. My kids love the fried chicken wings.
I love their food. The dumplings, slow cooked beef cheek, Cantonese fried rice, duck curry the list goes on.
We have now been a few times and every time the food has been great.
THE LUCKY GUY restaurant in Firle. VERY LUCKY TO EARN MONEY BY CHEATING THEIR CUSTOMERS.
This is a Cheating restaurant. I had dinner with a friend. After paying the bill the clerk at the counter didn’t ask if I need a copy of the bill. I asked for it and then got the copy. With checked the bill, there was a surcharge of 10%. When I enquired about the surcharge the clerk said oh it is charged by mistake. I will Refund. She did refund the surcharge. Then I asked for the manager. The manager came in a very unprofessional manner and said it is a software mistake. The surcharge has not been removed after the PUBLIC HOLIDAY on 14/06/2021. Why they don’t make the mistake to not charge this surcharge. He said will call the software company. This is sheer cheating.
Food quality was bad. I ordered vegetarian noodles with tofu and veggies. They didn’t put tofu. When I raised this concern the manager said this is not regular order. How unprofessional and casual answer. If not regular order then why did you accept it? Only two people in the restaurant and even then they couldn’t give good service. They don’t have any hot drink.
I call upon this restaurant to refund the surcharge fraudulently charged to all customers today on 15/06/2021.
