The Golden Wishbone

I ordered the seafood basket with Greek salad. It was bloody good. I am from Darwin and I have had share of fish and chips and seafood. This little shop smashes it out of the park. Totally recommend!

Food is consistently good however customer service over the last 3-4 months has been terrible. Incredibly rude when placing phone orders, not welcoming at all, in fact quite the opposite. The older gentleman who works there needs to lighten up, especially at this time of year. Also does not make eye contact. Will unlikely return to this store based on these interactions.

Being new to the area, I’ve been to the Golden Wishbone a few times now and it has never failed to disappoint. Me and my partner have ordered a range of items such as the Cold Pack, Yiros Pack, Hamburger with the Lot and Chips with Gravy.

All items have been really nice, in particular, the chips which are cooked nicely and have a nice amount of salt.

From what i know, the owners have been there for a while and operate like an old school shop. Whilst i’ve read negative comments in the reviews, i can say that they have always been super nice and friendly. If Google would let me, i’d rate this place 4.5/5

Been a loyal customer to this chicken shop for year, but won’t be going back again and won’t be recommending to anyone I know. Bought a whole chicken and got home to find that there were two pieces missing. Called the shop to let them know (thinking it would be easily resolved) and was called a liar and hung up on. Absolutely no concept of customer service! So rude

What a fantastic place, I hadn't been here for many years and was absolutely impressed, the food is fantastic, staff kind and amiable, service was speedy! Love this place, cannot recommend any higher, WOW!

Owner is a rude disrespectful and bitter man. The food is alright but the service is awful.

Got 1/4 chicken chips & gravy pack. As soon as I opened it I thought it was going to be yuck. Never seen so many chips dotted with grey spots, the gravy was tasteless & the chicken was small & dry.to the point I couldn't cut it with my knife. Need to change the oil a bit more also as the chips just weren't fresh, even smothered in gravy they were horrible. The chickens on display looked nice & juicy, the one I got in my pack looked & tasted like it was left over from the night before. Smothering it in tastlesss gravy won't fix that. Customers aren't stupid, they just wont come back & pay for bad food.

I recently had visitors from Melbourne and on Thursday night we went for fish and chips at my local chicken shop which I have been going to for over 10 years. Never in all my experience in hospitality or retail have I ever been treated in such a disgusting and disrespectful manner by the owner when I tried to tell him about the service we got and the food was inedible and needed to go in the bin. He told me I should have bought it back and on the night in question I tried to ring them and no one answered the phone. As it was near closing, the only chance I had was to go in today to speak to the manager and advise of this. I am a 71 year old woman and
this is his response to my complaint in person- "I have no tolerance for you today" even though I never once raised my voice and spoke respectfully. His misogynistic attitude was totally unacceptable and appalling. It shouldn't have surprised me as when I have been in the store he has spoken very rudely to his wife and other staff. His concluding words were "perhaps you need to find another chicken shop".

Their chooks are really good! Got one today for Xmas tomorrow for our family lunch. All the food looks really fresh! Great atmosphere and prompt service!

Where can you get a Chicken hot pack for $10.90 and a good portion.

Chicken, fish, chips, salds yiros, Hamburgers and hot dogs. All the usual add-ons. Also meal deals for chicken and fish.

Probably one off the worst away fish and chip shops out there, order 3 pieces of fish 2 dimsims and a pineapple fritter, I’ve never seen a smaller fritter in my life let alone how it tasted this goes for the dimsims as well disgusted.

I don't know what to say really. My hubby loves the chicken parmi pack and swear by it but I refuse to eat here. It's not the food persay but the shop itself. The staff have no hair in nets, the ladies have their hair loosly in a clip and it freaks me out to think how much hair gets in food. One of the guys has thick curly fluffy hair and I just can't bring myself to eat from here seeing what I see. The family seem angry at each other. Throwing stuff down while looking at each other it feels very hostile and angry. The place is covered in those print out posters of extra menu items when it's just frozen junk. I don't see the appeal but each to their own.

This is my GO-TO place for my lunch And dinner and I'm on a budget, Scooter and Lou and the girls treat you like family and their chicken and other yummy hot food I think is the best down south definately give this place a try you won't be disappointed.

Potato fritters were the frozen type, these are literally the worst. Would be 0 stars if possible. Oh and maybe change the oil a bit more, chips tasted like dim sims

When I frequented the wishbone on my way home from work 2 years ago for a quick dinner, the service was lovely and the chicken was juicy and plump. I got a chicken in November 2021 last year and the service was no longer friendly and the chicken dry as a bone, I have given them benefit of the dought and tried the chicken again tonight, still as dry as a bone and still the service was not friendly. I will never go back to this chicken shop to take my money for bad service and bad product.

I love this place. I have to limit myself to coming here no too often. The food is always good the chips are awalys hella tasty. Have not had anything that I didn't like from here. Highly recommended!

When I'm out with friends, sometimes we order from the Golden Wishbone, and the food doesn't get any better than this
