The Glen Osmond Tollgate

Unfortunately, The safest way to view this historical landmark from a distance. This what I did as well. You can park your car near the Glen Osmond mines and have look from far. I would have love to see it on up close in person, but that would mean crossing the busy freeway which is very dangerous.

I'm an Adelaidian but unfortunately for such an historic site, for tourists it is in the middle of the freeway into Adelaide and beyond. Therefore no-one is able to stop and have a look. Great for a meeting place in car park for a drop off with kids being met by the other party as most people know where it is.

Excellent place to stay.staff are excellent. Internet is super.

Historic restoration
Motorists on the South Eastern Freeway may have recently noticed the historic tollgate has been reinstalled after a three-month absence.  
The tollgate has undergone a full restoration under the direction of DPTI - Field Services team, using local businesses.  The condition of the tollgate had deteriorated due to age and exposure to the elements.   
The restoration works included blasting and painting of the original steel fittings and restoration and replacement where necessary of the timber structure of the gate.

Not exactly a destination.you just kind of drive past it quickly and note that's where they used to collect the toll once uppn a time. Adelaide has no toll roads now.
