The Gawler Arms Hotel

Have been waiting on meals for over 45 mins, our three kids got there meels within 15 minutes and we were told that the large tables get served there food first. Very disappointing do not recommend this restaurant

Went for dinner on a Saturday at 7pm.place was only half full (if that), waited over 75minutes from time of order to when we received our meals.

The witch taking orders was a sour faced misery guts that was rude when taking the order.was told we couldn't alter meals of tge daily board had "Have them as they come, or order something else", was then charged $6 to swap mashed potatoes for chips on a menu item. Steak came out well done when asking for medium and lasagne had less flavour than the cheap Coles frozen lasagne.

Terrible dining experience from start to finish.can see why you average 3.5 stars.

Good meals, seniors discounts & Monday to Wednesday they have cheaper lunches, very enjoyable

Had lunch, quick service, very helpful staff, linguine marinara, absolutely delicious, plenty of prawns and calamari, lasagne was delicious too.

We went on Thursday night which also featured the salad bar! Great value with a meal. We started with the salad, roast vege and pasta selection, got our beautifully crumbed fresh fish and snitizel and finished with the dessert and fruit section of the salad bar. Kids would love it. It was busy so make a booking.

Had a table of 20 booked, some meals took over 1 1/2 hrs to come out. Some meals were served without the side e.g. Satay chicken served without rice, had to question a wait staff. Poor excuse was given that there was a new chef that didn't know the kitchen layout.
Meals were average.

I’ve stayed in the accommodation and eaten at the Gawler arms several times. Each time the staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to assist you.
The rooms are very comfortable, clean, quiet one of the best I’ve stopped in

Food was good, nice range of specials, service was acceptable, could do with a reshen up I would go back.

I must say things have definitely gone downhill here. First they jacked up the prices, now they don’t have Coca-Cola brand on tap and have moved to Pepsi, they don’t provide spare plates for the salad bar in case you need a fresh one, soup is gone and the only thing available for desert was ice cream, with the rest of it wiped out. What used to be one of our favourite places for food sadly is no longer a favourite!

Our Christmas lunch was delicious and plenty of it. The staff were so happy and friendly ️ Merry Christmas.

This was my families first time coming back here to eat since before Covid started and I think it’s gonna be our last, food was extremely subpar, all had the Thursday night shopper stopper deals, I ordered the $19.90 German Kranskys and Mash.

After waiting an hour for our food, the plate that was dropped in front of me was severely underwhelming, the menu read that the kranskys were supposed to be German with chilli and cheese, and were literally regular pork sausages from slape and sons (been eating slapes products for years so instantly knew what they were) and a small dollop of mash that had a crust on top like it had been sitting under a warmer for hours and bland unseasoned gravy.

The salad, veggie and dessert bar isn’t what it used to be, they’ve removed a lot of hot food items and replaced them with bad tasting food, the Mac and cheese from the buffet literally tasted like someone had thrown it up and the items from the dessert bar lacked flavour completely because a fair few items there either tasted bad or bland.

The service from the staff members, except the new girl on training who was friendly was like walking into a funeral, no one smiling, no friendliness, standoffish rude behaviour.

The only positive was that my beer was good but then again pretty hard to mess that up when it’s straight from the keg.

I’m afraid (in my opinion) the dining isn’t what it was and it’s noticeable by the hit and miss quality of steak

Had my wedding here the other night been here heaps, everyone love there's meals, plus the staff our wonderful and helpful, and I also had the chicken schnitzel and it was heaps nice.

Meals were ok, slightly over priced for what we received. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Yea I don't know.this place tbh needs a whole revamp. Old outdated menu. I understand the money situation these days but again. Needs to be up dated

Not that common anymore, their Thursday night self serve soup, salad, vegetables and desserts buffet was of good quality. Only having that was enough for us!
Bar staff were really friendly and could not have helped us more. Would go back.

My oldest was 12 and had to order from the adults menu. Server wouldn’t budge even though there was no way he could eat an adult meal. First and last time ever going there
