The Crown and Sceptre Hotel reviews
29 The food was not as expected.
Steak was undercooked (asked for medium well) however it was very pink and chewy.
The mixgrilled was quite bland.
Great City pub! Wonderful decor! Excellent service! Very tasty food! Thoroughly enjoyable!
Tried the kangaroo. Delicious and well presented. Came out fast. The ambience is nice. Staff are friendly. Ive been here a few times before for fringe shows and thought it was a good fringe venue too.
Great Pub, thanks to Jo and her crew it's hard to find a better place to drink in the CBD, it's got the human feel to it and that's irreplaceable.
One of the best pubs in Adelaide, the food and atmosphere is exceptional.
We visited 3 nights in a row on recent stay in city.
Had kangroo fillets which were undercooked. This is essentially a pub expanded to accommodate dining but is very noisy. Service was good.
Good local pub. Good selection of beers and other drinks. Plenty of room inside and in the beer garden. Always a lot of atmosphere
Excellent customer service. Friendly greetings and the dining room is lovely. Good menu with variety of dishes. Food was delicious and well presented. Great atmosphere and very relaxing. Highly recommended
The food was top-notch! From the moment we walked in, the staff were extremely welcoming and very friendly. Great pub atmosphere.
Food was ok but service was rude & abrupt at front bar, not letting a customer know how much the cost is prior to shipping their card is simply not on.
I ordered the prawn and chorizo pasta and the arancini. The rice in the arancini wasn't cooked properly. The pasta was ok but the tomato sauce was so rich and strong tasting that the prawns were lost in it. There wasn't anything really awful about the meal but it wasn't good enough to make me want to go back. I was with other people who ordered various dishes. Although I didn't specifically ask them, none of them mentioned their food being good.
Ordered a 300gram sirloin steak for $36.00. The steak was nice but the meal was not balanced as it was not accompanied by salad or vegetables.
For a Monday night the service was excellent and the meals were made quite promptly. The atmosphere was quite vibrant for the time of day that we'd dined in.
They are so friendly! Food is very nice. They do kids meals as well. We ordered just enough for a family of five. Located in a nice area. Indoor and outdoor seats.
Unfortunately I would not recommend goìng to the Crown and Sceptre at the moment. Things would have to change considerably.
We had a booking for 7.30pm of which most of the guests had arrived. Due to difficulty finding a car park 3 of the guests arrived at 7.55pm to be informed that the kitchen was closed and would not supply that 3 with anything including desert. I was told the kitchen was closed and required 20 minutes notice. (Either the Kitchen closes at 8.pm or it closes at 7.40pm!). We were instructed at 8.50pm that we had 10 minutes as the Hotel was closing and while standing outside saying goodnight the lights were turned off. The two staff were extremely officious and most unfriendly.
As for the meals. The other guests shared their meals with everyone. Sampling the fish cakes they were nice, along with the lamb dish but the vegetarian burger was dry and flavorless.
For a Hotel that I have visited several times in the past and has been highly respected this was a complete disappointment.
We as a Club, had considered using the Crown and Sceptre for a larger group function as we have been doing recently in an aim to support hotels as we come out of restrictions from Covid.
As a result of this experience, we would be embarrassed to hold a dinner meeting at the Crown and Sceptre currently.
This pub is always a good time. The live performances bring it to life and there is plenty of room to dance or sit and chill. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is tasty and easy to share. It's such a wonderful pub to spend the night at
Love this place. Great menu and food delicious. Staff jovial and helpful. Definitely going there again and telling my friends.
Awesome steak. In fact up there with the best steak I’ve had in an Adelaide Pub. Friendly staff and just a nice pub feel.
My friend and I had a wonderful experience at the Crown and Sceptre, with great food and service. The waitress was informative and recommended the best they had to offer.
Great food, well priced and great service. But the Steak with red wine j was too salty, barramundi was really good. Big plates, happy sharing.
