I've been told that if you would like to pay with EFTPOS to avoid surcharges you have to request this type of payment as the hotel manager just explained to me that "they don't have time to give each customer all of the information they require for their stay when they check in and out" and she stated that it "is your responsibility as the customer to request EFTPOS payment because we are so busy checking in all of our customers all day. " Absolutely unbelievably bad customer service.
Original 2 star review:
Such horrible communication from staff. They don't deliver information and then when questioned assume you should have known already. Two specific examples at check out:
1. The car park: the process of using the $25 per day passes is very confusing and they explained it very poorly. After a couple days of difficulty we questioned them and suggested that they make an instruction manual. The women at the front desk let us know they already have one and just didn't provide it.
2. Surprise surcharges: surcharges added to the payment at the end because we gave them a visa debit for payment to later find out we could have just tapped the card to save $12. No apologies from staff. Just a should shrug.
Front desk staff desperately need customer service training.
The actual hotel is okay, rooms were clean and the staff not at the front desk were friendly. Pool and hot tub were on the colder side and the gym facilities are very minimal.
Poor accommodation and service for the cost.
We booked 2 room for 4 adults and were only given 1 key for each room when asked for an extra key for each room. We were rudely refused and uncomfortably questioned by Kenneth (night staff) who was absolutely rude and he failed to meet our needs of an extra key, as he was unprofessional telling us we were holding him back from getting in the Elevator when we wanted to contact our father but there is 2 elevators and we have paid 388 for what bad service? When we communicated to him about our father who was unable to come down to the ground floor due to him being asleep after driving 8 hours he was not sympathetic and even after showing ID as evidence and clarification he still didn’t allow us to get an extra key for our mother who was tried and worried about her husband.
Although my family and I understand that there are rules and regulations we do not appreciate the attitude and unprofessional that hotel grand chancellor on curry street presented this stay. I wouldn’t recommend booking here. Take your money and find yourself somewhere you and your family be taken care of.
The hotel room is still very comfortable, this hotel night front desk staff service attitude is really not very good, but after the reaction, the daytime front desk staff have actively apologize and solve. All in all, it is still okay, but the evening shift service staff need more training :)
This could be nice if they took down the non-functional red and tan over drapes (not needed) swapped the red couch for a black one with olive cushions to pick up the tones in the carpet and throw out the dated, unnecessary furniture. It would then be tasteful.
It smelled musty on entry so everything needs a deep clean.
The beds are comfy though!
The air conditioner had a noisy fan but we were able to run it on low fan without noise, thankfully. There was a second air conditioner in the little lounge which was fine.
Breakfast was a silly affair altogether - there was an out of control waiter/manager who was flapping about. The food was ok though, but not memorable.
A nice place to be, got swimming pool, spa, gym, table tennis have fun nice rooms just good for everyone be it couples families or singles good to go I'd love to be back there soon love the spa
The beds were comfortable and the cleaners were very accomadating, the kids loved the pool. But bit disappointed in the actual family room as from the beds we couldn't see the TV I suggest they put the TV on a swing bracket soyoucan turn the TV towards the beds.
The bathroom is a little outdated and the stain on the toilet is not to appealing.also maintenance is needed in the rooms
On check in my son and I were treated no better than a dogs with my son literally told to shut up and that is not the half of it as the ridiculous argument that followed made no sense and were threatened to be ejected from the hotel by simply asking questions on how they were processing our stay. The questioning was very justified as we were charged over $1,000 for a two night stay. I looked at rooms available and the same room is for $169 per night! Travelled for many years and even through there have been differences between people which is understandable but NEVER once made a complaint until now in over 30 years of travel.
Appalling customer service at check in. The staff member was rude and unhelpful. Rooms are dated too.
Images definitely show nicer thanbthe actual state of the rooms. However, happy with room size, service provided, and the location of the hotel as well and yes I would return.
Clean, quiet and located in central CBD location close to everything. The staff remembered your name immediately and made you feel at home. I highly recommend it!
Staff are friendly and helpful
Rooms are clean and spacious
Convenient city location close to everything in the city.
Parking is not far away and is cheap and secure.
Worst Hotel ever and I have stayed almost everywhere 4 star and above in Adelaide service as so disgusting and awful. Do not stay here it should be 2 star! It as awful
Hotel was great location yet still quite Room was basic but still clean and tidy.unfortunately lost a star due too it's TV's they where free to air channels only. No smart TV, or chrome cast for streaming bit outdated for 2022
Everything seemed all well and good till I seen what looks like blood splatter on the curtain and lampshade. Bit uncomfortable seeing that, but otherwise ok place to stay
Poor cleaning of the room, the TV wasn't working, the bathroom and toilet weren't cleaned. There was blood on the wall of the hallway before our room. No financial compensation offered by the hotel. Stay away from this place at all cost
Not best rooms but they just OK also very little service assistance and location isn't the best for parking
The rooms were a good size and clean. Breakfast was a farce. One poor girl trying to serve us all and one cook for a pretty full hotel. Took 1 1/2 hours to finally be served avo on toast! Won't stay there again.
Appalling responses while trying to book accomodation. Not only that, they are still in the dark ages and requesting all Adults & Children show vaccine passes!? I am sorry, most of us moved on and 98% of the country is not remotely in a compromised situation. We no longer support mandates because the people need to get on with their lives and we refuse to discriminate with our fellow countrymen. I will NEVER use a business like this and neither should anyone else.
Breakfast was cold. Cold eggs benny. Seriously, hospital food gets around the ward and retains its heat.
Don't stress on burning yourself!
The concierge won't notice you come or go. Just a human ATM, taking your money and not realising a person is there. Whatever a person is
Would NOT recommend at all.
Zero service! Pool closed, spa closed, no tv reception.
No one answered phones after multiple attempts to call.
Zero staff communication as everyone has a different answer.
Staff were not apologetic and made zero attempt to rectify or remedy our concerns.
This place was a total let down.
