The Almond Train reviews
31Been going here for some 20 years and heading there again this weekend. Love their produce and the environment. Highly recommend
Just went in for a browse and came out with two items, just not sure what your going to find in these quaint places
This place is pretty useless if you get there and they're closed. They should change their official opening hours to "open daily on random hours"
An old train carriage converted into a lolli shop, what more would you want in life. A nice selection of sweet treats, gifts and other bits and pieces for you to browse. The hardest decision is knowing when to stop adding chocolate to your basket. A must stop.
A train compartment turned in to a nuts selling shop. It’s cosy and beautiful. You can find a variety of nuts including almonds, macademia and a variety of sweets such as lollies. The prices are a little expensive. But with how well they’re packed and the cost of maintaining that unit, I believe the price is fair. You can find both sweet and savory nut types. Mostly sweet though covered with chocolate or honey or milk or sugar. Right next to the almond train is a japnese restaurant that’s also on wheels.
A train compartment converted to a boutique. They sell different varieties of almonds, nuts and lollies. The price is a little bit high. But some products are priced reasonably. On-site car park is available. Not busy at all.
Small feature of the town. Two train carriages repurposed, the redish has a range of savory and sweet good (chocolate coated nuts, lollies, relish) and the green is a cafe.
The cafe was closed during the visit.
The man (who appears to be the owner based off the other reviews), didn’t greet upon entry, but did grow friendlier once we appeared with a few things to purchase. Wasn’t much for small talk, and conversation felt a little forced. I couldn’t help but notice the for sale sign, which indicates to me he may be looking to retire. Go here to support a small business, but note that the goods are overpriced.
The Armond Train was great. We loved the Armond's and other tasty treats. Also there were interesting and different niknaks to buy. It was different and we thoroughly enjoy our time there.
What a pathetic excuse for a man. Was grunted at as we walked in but we happily bought some over priced lollies to keep the children happy then left. My 5 yr old train loving son wanted a photo with the train and all of a sudden we were abused by this horrible man for having a photo on the side of the train. The same train we had just been standing on to buy the lollies. His response was 'how would you like me to stand on your car'. Ummmm well if I drove a train then I'd kind of expect it. If you have train loving children, please do NOT go to this horrible place. He needs to sell up and move on
I was very excited about heading back to the Almond Train, I remember going there was a kid, however the man at the desk is certainly in the wrong profession. The lack of any sign of friendly customer service might explain why the Almond Train had so few customers while the rest of the town was flat out busy. In fact he was flat out rude.
Times state open until 3pm, however closed already and it's only 1.45pm
No consideration to clients who drive out of their way to purchase merchandise
May have to consider alternative in future
They are not doing tastings "because of covid" everywhere else in Australia has found a way to reopen tasting experiences following guidelines. We bought a broach since we were there anyway. It broke within two minutes of leaving. We returned to get our money back and they had closed up shop half an hour early. Very suspicious
Fun little historic train that sells all kinds of fresh/roasted/flavoured almonds. Worth a visit! Usually they have free tastings, unfortunately because of COVID that was temporary stopped for good reasons.
The Almond Train is a must-visit. I can't say enough good things about their Thai sweet chilli cashews and wasabi almonds!
The last time I went there we had a lovely meal, it was a lovely ride too, although we really didn't go anywhere are you confused, me too Ron
Lovely place to stop by for a little bit of history, sweets and pictures, but note that cafe nearby has been closed since covid struck
We were on a bus trip and called in there to get some nuts.it was supposed to be open every day according to there web site BUT were closed! Their loss we went to the chocolate shop down the road.
Well worth coming prices are great and we had Bacon and Egg on toast cooked to perfection great friendly staff come and see see
Omg whats not to like i love nuts & those wasabi almonds are yummo! Ive been bragging since i returned home. Cant wait to get back
One of our favourite brekky date places in SA. The ambience, the customer service and the welcoming warm smile can’t be replaced for us anywhere else. Nothing compares to their Coach Benedict’s & Caramel Swirls
