Sundowner Motel Hotel reviews
67 From the first phone call, to arriving and being greeted by the lovely receptionist, everything just flowed from beginning to the end.
The restaurant staff just wonderful, very efficient and polite, and loved how they didn't bother you whilst eating but when passing our table just a smile and a everything ok which was lovely. 10/10.
A group of us went for dinner and the meal itself was ok, I had the crumbed fish it was nice but the salad bar left a lot to be desired. Three types of pasta, 2 bowls of beetroot, 1 bowl of watermelon and 1 bowl of tossed salad. No coleslaw, every salad bar needs coleslaw!
Salad food is cheap at the moment so the salads on offer were very poor.
It was OK but we went on a Saturday night very busy took over half an hour to get food food was average, they sell bigger shnitzels at Coles than you get here, salad and veg bar was good staff where also good
Simply had dinner with my partner there while visiting whyalla. We had the Salt and pepper squid and cabonara.
Cabonara can go one of two ways- make you feel heavy and taste all.gluggy or amazing.
It was so so good. Even my partner said as fresh and tasty as his squid was, he seriously couldn't stop stealing more bites of the pasta after a taste test.
Only downfall was at the salad bar - the potato bacon cheese bake?
Bigger potato pieces were undercooked and the cheese sauce.was very unpleasant. It tried to taste like cheese but it just tasted like.grit.
Went to play pool but table was not placed properly with enough gaps from other dining tables and chairs hence it was difficult to play
I’m disappointed with my experience of staying at the Sundowner this week. After leaving a brand new pair of Lululemon bike shorts and a Kookai bathing suit in their bathroom. I called two days later to ask if the cleaner had found them and obviously would have surrendered them. Nope. I was told I would get a call back next day. I had to call them, was told no one could find my belongings seem to have disappeared into thin air. Which means staff at this establishment are dishonest and stole them.
I sat in the lounge and heard staff screaming in the front bar. Very loudly and then the same staff member who worked in reception as she checked me in. Apologised and said she just got carried away with one of the patrons. Not professional and quite alarming.
I would also like to mention the spaghetti bolognese was terrible. Just yuck. Do not recommend their food. Also the TV there if you want to watch TV. Forget about that idea. Cuts out every one to two mins on every channel. There are so many other motel/hotels to stay at in Whyalla I would NOT choose this one. Also right on the edge of town far away from amenities. Their dishonesty is really what did it for me. I had also offered to pay to have my items sent back to me. But they’ve disappeared…
Nice room at spend the night and it's at an easy to find location and the bed was a full king bed, not two mattresses pushed together
Did not stay in motel but came for a meal, well cooked food, plenty on the plate, service excellent
Great place to visit the following link to get a chance to sit down and hopefully get a good time
Popped in for a birthday celebration and I ordered the scotch fillet, medium rare. It was bloody perfect, side chips were very beautiful too. The salad plates are a tad too small.
The rooms are really good and mattresses are very comfortable only criticisms was the continental breakfast was very bland and very basic, being Australian they had no Vegemite (not happy). The staff in the restaurant and room cleaners were very pleasant and attentive to our requests
Staff were great, but under-resourced and understaffed. Waited 30mins at our table before we even got served, and then another 50mins for 3 anorexic schnitzels and 2 garlic breads, for $90, really! This has been a great budget pub for a long time, hope this is a one-off.
Just tried to get some lunch.we 've been seated and ignored.people around us, even later arrival had their drinks ordered.we left, but no one seemend to care.would have spent a bit, as it was my b'day. NOT RECOMMENDED
Slow service, food service poor, ordered fish and chips, but chips cold and greasey being made and left in bowl at service hatch then added to meal plate just before service to table.
Besides one of the staff members by the name of Shannon, the rest working in the restaurant on Saturday evening were rude beyond measure. Witnessed one staff member arguing with an elderly customer and then shoving a bottle of coke back at her. Think they forgot they didn’t have masks on anymore and the looks on there faces when customers asked about items or asking for the rest of the meals was not excusable. If you don’t like dealing with customers and there requests don’t work in customer service…. And don’t argue with customers if you expect them to keep coming back…food was ok, very pricey for what it was and took over 45mins and having to ask two other staff members for the childrens icecream to come out. Was the second time coming here and thought maybe the staff wouldn’t be rude this time but nothing had changed. Will avoid coming here next time.
I was not happy with the cleanliness of our room, especially the stained carpets.
Nor was I happy with our meal in the dining room.
I filled out the questionnaire form in our room & gave it to the front office.
Since then I received a call from the manager who has apologised & explained some of the reasons why. Due to this I will give them the benèfit of staying there once more next year.
It does pay to do a review & pleased that it has been acted on.
Great place to stay. Clean large rooms with modern ensuite. Food is good and plenty to eat. Good place to break your journey. Staff courteous and helpful.
Review for bistro. Atmosphere is clean and pleasant, staff are friendly and polite. Meals are tasty and portion just right. An overall good bistro dinning, will definitely recommended.
We didnt stay here, went to whyalla on public holiday, every eatery was closed, so went to have dinner over there, was the ONLY one open. We were not expecting good food but to our surprise, it was so good. Staff were friendly. Price was reasonable. Highly recommended.
We always stay at the Sundowner Motel when we go to Whyalla. The rooms are spotless and quite spacious, the staff are very friendly.
