Star Theatres reviews
32Always a good show on and a lot of community involvement. Malcom Harslett runs a really good venue with broad appeal and lots of variety.
Great little theatre for stage shows and the like. A well stocked bar for nibbles and beverages to take into the session. Seats aren't to bad comfort wise considering the age of them.
Quaint lil theatre thats close to the stage.not big but big enough for small production.love to see a blues or jazz production.imtimate surroundings.beer wine softdrinks and candy bars at reasonable price.plus South ussie icon Malcolm will always make it thst lil bit special with his knowledge of the arts.
Went to see "First Date" by an independent theatre group. It was enjoyable, a well written play in an intimate venue. Some good singing and the sound aspects were good with the head microphones well used. Star theatre has a small stage, but I think the performers moved well and I enjoyed the characters written into the story, but i think the actors could have pushed harder with their scene work as there were missed opportunities with some scenes that could havhie really heightened the overall play. There was some solid acting by the actors at times that was assisted by the musical components of the production. Costuming could have been a bit better, it was all a bit drab. Good to know the Star is getting an over haul renovation wise, as vintage can also be comfy. Good on you Malcolm for your 30 years looking after this venue.
I've seen loads of shows here. Recently Men Who Dance. It's a very friendly theatre with some great stages and there's usually quality shows being performed.
Saw a good show there but as it was fringe festival time the other theatres were also in use and so the foyer was packed. Seating is not that comfortable but the show helped me forget.
A beautiful theatre, where you can either hold your plays and meetings, or you can watch someone else's plays. The price to hold a play there is reasonable, but the food and drinks are a bit overpriced.
An intimate little gem of a venue.
I looked forward very much to attending a Fringe 2021 event at Star Theatre, and came away not at all disappointed.
Front of house warmly welcomed us while fullfilling their Covid requirements.
The clever way the event management had set the room up allowed for all patrons to feel comfortable during these times of Covid caution.
Those who came as a group where able were seated together at tables, and those of us who preferred a more traditional theatre experience were catered for in rustic but comfortable rows.
Thank you and Congratulations to all involved.
Love these little theatres, they feel like they're from another era. Good sized stages, cute little foyer, old school snack bar (with booze!).

Saw Cinderella today, great interactive show, 6 year old daughter had a great time. Recommended for anyone who has time in the school holidays.
This theatre is like stepping into a forgotten era. I could see how it had been in it's heyday, and it was a lovely experience to have a drink before a show.
It is definitely a little tired and dated and would look beautiful with some fresh touches. The cinema itself is cosy, seats are quite small and crowded (much more noticeable in a post covid world!) and it gets quite warm. We could see and hear the show easily though, and had a lovely night.
Saw "Beautiful" for the second time and was not disappointed. Saw it last year at Star Theatre. Fabulous production. Wonderful singers and actors
We went to see "Beautiful" the early life story of Carole King " musical.
It was a small oldish theatre, but very quaint and cosy. It has the capacity to seat quite a few people. It adjoins the Hilton RSL.
It has quite a decent size Foyer and Bar. I would go to Star Theatres again. It was a Positive Experience.
This has to be Adelaide's best intermediate-sized live theatre venue, with seating for around 350, ability to be changed to cabaret seating with tables and Adelaide's own "Mr Entertainment" as the owner/manager. Highly recommend attending the myriad of shows they put on offer along with their strong support for local artists with their various own "festivals'. Drinks are reasonably priced as well!
Great intimate small theatre experience. The Carol King Musical we saw was amazing and so professional.
Just saw Carol King the Musical.what a fantastic performance by all and in such a lovely theatre. Will be watching out for more shows there. Thank you Adelaide.
Great show, top production of Carol King Musical.
Really enjoyed the great artists, singers and fantastic band.
Beautiful. The Carol King Story was really enjoyable with some talented singers & dancers. However, this theatre although charming, really needs to replace it's uncomfortable seating.
