Spalding Hotel reviews
35Driving back to NSW from Coober Pedy. Stopped in at Spalding Pub. Tired and weary. Got a great feed. If it's old fashioned hospitality with a smile that your after. Pop in and say gidday to Fletcher and Ang.
Fantastic stopover on the Mawson trail journey. The owners are super friendly and helpful and looked after us perfectly. We were there for pizza night on a Sunday and the breakfast with the five star barista quality coffees are awesome. Hotel has a bike wash station and cold beers on tap. So good. Didn't want to leave.
You couldn’t ask for better pub owners, Fletcher and Ange! Great GF schnitzel and chips and a beautiful space with timeless and considered the touches. A great rest stop for a Heysen Hiker after a big hike in. If you are lucky enough, the woodfire will be cranking. Thank you!
After 180 km on the Mawson trail the Spalding hotel welcomed us with friendly service and cold beer. The hotel is under new management and has had a nice spruce up. The food was great with an awesome scotch fillet and solid breakfast, Very reasonably priced and couldn’t recommend it highly enough for cyclists and walkers.
Good job guys.
Concur entirely with Ben B.
Fab digs after a long 180km day haul.
The cheese burger I had for dinner there was my favourite meal the entire week long ride.
Be back for sure.
Stayed in free camp at oval then walked just minutes to the hotel for a meal. Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Spalding Hotel for 3 nights in July. Fletch and Angie were really lovely and very accommodating. My room was comfortable and clean. The chicken and chips I had for dinner one night were excellent (the other two nights I ate at the General Store). I’m walking the Heysen Trail (but not camping) and every morning Fletch had my packed lunch ready bright and early. I really enjoyed my stay here.
The quintessential Australian small town hotel, run by a wonderful couple Fletch and Angie. They are upgrading the hotel and managing to keep the local character and charm of the town and region.
Spalding is a great little town with a strong history and a strong community. The Hotel has great food, a terrific bar and charming accommodation.
I am walking the Heysen Trail, and this was a great stopover. Comfortable bed, quiet rooms, terrific service and the town makes for a great rest day - small shop with hot food options, quiet parks and of course the service of the Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble.
I will stop here again the next time I travel through, by car, motorcycle or foot!
This is a great cyclist friendly pub, recommended to anyone doing the Mawson trail like I was. Food was excellent and a couple of local beers added to the usual selection was a nice bonus after a long day in the saddle. Owners were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Fletcher and team!
Absolutely outstanding Hotel. The publican Fletcher made our stay memorable, great staff, excellent food and lodging.
If you're in a cycling group Fletcher will look after you, five star alround
Very old rooms creaky bed light stopped working in the bathroom lovely friendly owners hopefully they can improve the accommodation lovely little town
Great country pub with heaps of character. The owners are super-friendly and very accommodating. Food is excellent and well-priced.
The Spalding Hotel: where the hospitality is as warm as the fire in the front bar. New publicans Fletcher and Angie have an absolute gem of a place that they are pouring their hearts and souls into. They treat everyone who walks in the door like old friends and we have loved going there - and then returning for more. Proper community minded folk and I’m looking forward to returning soon. For the hikers out there, meals are not every day, but if you’re staying there you can still order a counter meal.
Great pub. Meals excellent. Service efficient and friendly. Went out of their way to make us comfortable.
Great country pub, good food, warm comfortable room, excellent publicans, friendly locals, all you need after a long days drive.
Worst pub in Australia, never seen such rude people in my life and the price of everything is double anywhere else, dirty, smelly, rank establishment.never again, I'd give it minus 5 if I could
The publican Fletch was amazing. It was like staying with an uncle. Room was clean and comfortable. The pub had great food and wonderful company. The perfect stay. I even got a go at the Spotify at the bar. Nothing was too much trouble. I'm a long distance hiker and this remarkable pub stay revitalised me. Fletch is one of the best people I've met on the Heysen Trail. Stay here. It's just the best. I feel loved.
Stopped in for a couple of beers and some wedges while riding through. New owners Fletcher and his family have only been going 10 weeks but are clearly a hit with the locals and visitors. Very friendly, accomodating and eager that everyone leaves happy and satisfied. Rooms to book or just on the off-chance. Great rural Australian bar with enthusiastic owners - stop in, you won’t regret it!
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT.
New Owners changed 2 months ago. You will be very welcome. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
Great pub, new Chef & great food, good hotel accommodation. New family to Spalding.
See recent update for our stay.
Drove through here from Birdsville a couple of weeks ago.
Stopped in as I was getting drowsy.
Just planned on a can of coke to keep me awake.
The owners were absolutely fantastic humans!
So energetic and enthusiastic about their new adventure with this pub!
Ended up chatting with them for 2 hours before hitting the road again. Would loved to have stayed!
Could not recommend this place enough, they are so keen to transform this pub and hotel! Big big plans for the future!
Thanks heaps!
