Southern Thai Cafe

Went here for lunch today (on a Monday) & there were quite a few people dining both inside and outside (which is always a good sign)! We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who was so accommodating & nice! We chose 2 options from the lunch menu (cheaper than the regular menu with a slightly smaller portion size) and our green curry with tofu & pad thai pork were both mega tasty & fresh! All up with the 2 x lunch options & a Singha beer & lemon lime & bitters it cost $46, which is amazing value I must say! Glad we went & if ever we are back in Mt Gambier, I’m sure we will return!

Went here on 16/12/23 for end of year work function. I had two meals. Satay chicken & Green curry. Both meals were very nice & no complaints.

Service is great and the menu has a wide variety that can accommodate to dietary needs! The food is absolutely delicious, i will always be a returning customer.

Amazing food, so many options and such welcoming staff! They even have a dedicated Australian section which some of my table chose from and they were very pleased with the snitzels they received, this restaurant really has a dish for everyone to enjoy! Will be returning!

Wow has this place has gone downhill.

First. They forgot my order… Everyone else at my table had finished their meal. I had to ask to get it.and then when it did finally arrive, it was pathetically small. I basically paid $26 for a child size schnitzel, a plate full of chips and some sort of tasteless, shredded cabbage. I was so upset I couldn't even eat it. Our table just left and I ate dinner at home.

Very disappointed.

Poor customer service and food.
1. Had to walk around the restaurant to find my own menu.
2. Waited for approximately 2hrs for the food to arrive.
3. The food was unfortunately not worth the wait.

I wish the staff/manager would have explained the wait time on arrival. Some honesty and transparency would have saved myself and many other customers a wasted evening.

Requested to speak to the manager at the end of meal on request, however the manager refused to come to the reception to apologise/explain the circumstances.

Sensational food with large serving sizes. Very busy night, so a bit of a delay in getting table service to order, but food was excellent and in a good time.

What a hidden gem!
Their seafood friedrice is superb, thai pork is soft in the inside and crispy on the outside, and their satay chicken is so creamy and juicy!

My only wish for this lovelt restaurant is to have more option on desserts.

This place has some good options for the hose who crave for Thai food. It’s quite authentic, and they take their spice level quite seriously. The seafood were generously portioned, and the sauce was delicious! I love how they have their fried egg with a runny yolk, it was yummy with the rice! Definitely will be back if we’re in this side of town. The minced chicken with Thai basil and fried pork were delicious too!

We were staying in Mount Gambier just for the night and had not booked anywhere for dinner in advance. We chanced ourselves a table (for 3 adults and 1 baby) at Southern Thai Cafe and were fortunately able to get a table for dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly when discussing the menu. The food was extremely tasty and the portions are huge.

Super expensive, kinda shabby inside and I think the kids working there are on work experience.

I had the seafood Thai green curry. It was so good. Spicy and coconut creamy. The waitress was really nice and I should have got her name. Keep it up the service was fantastic.

Amazing restaurant! The staff are extremely helpful, attentive and accommodating. I have a few intolerances and the staff were very helpful.

The food came out in great timing, with generous portion sizes. The food was great, I really enjoyed the spring rolls.

This was one of our best meals in our entire 2 week trip in Victoria and Mount Gambier. The flavours were good and we liked that we were able to select the level of spiciness. The portions and ingredients were also generous. I would eat here any day.

Waited for a hour for 2 dishes, had to talk to a “manager” to get my order served, while people ordered later than us get their food served ahead of us.
