Last year we purchased a new house and SC Building and Pest Inspections were recommended to us to carry out a pre-purchase building inspection. We received excellent prompt service with a detailed report provided including photos of any areas which may need attention. The report explained which would require urgent attention and which could wait a little longer. I was also able to meet on site to receive some verbal feedback on the day which was much appreciated. I can highly recommend this company.

Craig provided a pre purchase inspection March 2019. Craig is very prompt etc but I wouldn't recommend him. We only engaged Craig to provide a building inspection but not a pest inspection. The building inspection report was mostly good so we purchased on Craig's advice. 485k.
The day we moved in the floor in one of the bedrooms had been so badly damaged by termites the floor collapsed. There were no termites alive in the house but the damage was old, lots of structural damage in multiple rooms that should have been picked up by an average building inspector.
Now that I have seen the damage, it's very obvious (warped walls, ceiling beams sunken into gyprock etc) and I'm surprised a professional has missed it. Our costs for a poor building inspection are approaching 45k.
Craig did recommend a pest inspection but i argue the damage was all structural and should have been found visually if care was taken with an eye for detail. I've since had other inspectors agree with this, both pest and building inspectors.
I asked Craig to refund our money given the inspection failed but he refused, suggesting this would be an admission of guilt by him.
I would avoid SC building inspections based on my own experience. Spend more money on an inspection, cheap isn't always best.
