Skala Artisan Bakers

Skala's food is undeniably fantastic. Our experience trying the chunk steak pie and mushroom pie left us in awe of their deliciousness. The croissants were a delightful treat as well. Not to forget, the long black coffee was a perfect companion to the meal. However, be prepared for a bustling atmosphere. We arrived at 9.30 am, and the place was already packed. This might be a testament to its popularity, but it's advisable to plan accordingly for a potentially busy visit. Overall, Skala's offers a delightful culinary experience that's worth the crowds.

Delicious array of pastries, sweet and savoury. The cheeseburger pie was absolutely spot on. The staff are always welcoming and there’s plenty of seats inside and out. @kirbystaltari

Ok bakery, I wouldn't rate the sourdough anywhere near the best in Adelaide, always seems to have issues with air bubbles in the mix, some slices are more hole than bread. Also does not last like true sourdough should. Needs to be eaten the same day basically or its too dry. Too light and airy, burns too easily in the toaster. Does taste ok tho if it's fresh (seems hit and miss when I've bought it) Cakes and pastries are delicious if that's your vice.

Came into the bakery on my break and had great service by a young girl with dark brown hair in a ponytail who was very sweet and polite.will definitely be coming back.exceptional service

Hot food was a little too cold, service was horrible young lady was lazy and didn't listen, when established we bought 2 of something she was also to lazy to do a refund we hadn't even left the store overall just bad experience

So I understand your need to employ people, but needs to listen to customers when they serve would be good. $ 76 to feed 4 and food product was still cold in middle. Very bad service from young girl with black hair in ponytail.

The coffee great, cakes good too but Terrible service. Young girl, long brown hair, septum piercing and glasses, I believe her name was Jess. Did not want to be there.

Asked "what do you want? ", threw my card and then slapped it back on the counter in I guess what was an attempt to give it back to me?

I really loved that there's a bakery here, having grown up in the area, but service like that makes me not want to return.

Beautiful fresh baked treats and sensational coffee. Lovely staff and a totally chill vibe.

Meant to close at 430 sat outside now at 419 pm and door is closed and 2 staff members won’t open it. Poor service.

Surprised that Skala has taken over a cafe I've been to many times before, and disappointed to find no crockery - only takeaway cups.coffee was very average.

Visited at 1pm and most hot food items were already sold out - ended up getting a quiche as this was one of the few things left. Wanted to purchase a small milkshake with it and was told the total came to $17.30! I asked how much the milkshake was which the lady said it was $11, way too much for a small milkshake! I ended up just getting a quiche which was okay but nothing great. Overall this bakery is average.

Greeted with sign, "get a hug in a mug ", brought a smile to my face. I had a hot chocolate! 1st visit since change of ownership, impressed, cheerful team, will return. Thank you!

Always friendly staff and great coffee. It can be pretty busy some Saturday mornings but is worth the wait for the bacon and egg roll, the pepper pie, or my favourite, the CHUNKY STEAK AND BACON PIE

Iced latte was great, vegetable pasty for lunch was just as good. Top bakery to visit in a relatively quiet area.

This review relates to the newly renovated West Beach cafe. The store is excellent and the take away food very good.

But they really do need to sharpen up their serving skills especially during the busy lunch time period. A single person taking orders and working the register and no order in the way orders are taken and handled despite there usually being 3-4 staff behind the counter.

This leads to a long queue developing with very little social distancing - a definite health risk in covid times. And no one bothering to do the covid duties as required by law.

Added to that they allow people to cut into the front of the queue from the sit down dining area. It's a mess and someone needs to take control of that customer service area during busy periods or they will lose customers this summer.

Great food. Are obeying by " Covit", but to keep business flowing need to move people on
