Sip'n Save - Commercial Hotel reviews
50Why have a drive-thru when noone comes out to serve you? After waiting behind your Commodore ute with someone loading up ice, I had to sit waiting to be served. All I saw was one employee that went to look for someone to help me, but noone came. Wasn't going to wait for my shopping to melt so I left. Obviously don't need anyone's business. Certainly wont be getting any of mine!
Still waiting for a couple of schnittys. 1 hour later and the place is not full. Won't be back.
Friendly and understanding staff when a flat battery meant we were late for our booking. Best pork roast ever and only $22. Son's $25 lunch pictured.
Ordered gluten free battered fish as l have celuac disease. Excited when l was told the chef could cook my fish in gluten free flour. It was very expensive but my birthday treat. However it was horrible tasting. Ledt most of it. Told it was deep fried in soda flour. Yuk.
We had 6 meals here from schnitzels, squid and roast pork. All meals were very good. Big schnitzels and overall good size servings.
Meals were a little slow arriving but worth the wait. Kids meal deal was a hit
With generous serving, small drink included and ice cream plus a activity bag. Dinning is a bit out dated and menus, glasses etc could use a refresh.
Great country town pub.
Just had lunch at commercial Hotel. I had beef schnitty, surf and turf. Schnitzel was absolutely awesome. Garlic sauce with prawn/ squid cooked to perfection.chips were awesome.thanks
The food was absolutely delicious, I cannot understate that - but when I ordered a "rack of lamb" for $36, I did NOT expect only 2 bones. That is a conjoined set of lamb cutlets, not a rack very disappointed in that. Would love to rate higher otherwise, because the morsel I did receive was very tasty
Two dinners, a week apart, two different outcomes.
First dinner, 4 people, good meals all round, good value for money but the person taking the orders (part owner, I believe) needed reminding of the importance of being friendly and helpful to customers. Overall, a reasonable evening and I was happy to return a week later.
Second meal, 6 people and only 1 reasonable meal out of the 6. The Asian salad was refreshing, crispy and delicious; the accompanying pork belly was a little dry and flavourless but overall, reasonable.
Four serves of roast pork were very dry; the meat looked as if it had been cooked hours ago. Definitely a thumbs down from all concerned.
The one serve of lamb rack was raw. Pink lamb is lovely, but this was raw. The waitress reluctantly returned it to the kitchen. When it was returned to the table, it was just as raw, but part of the rack had been removed from the plate. The solution should have been to replace the raw lamb with a new serve, cooked appropriately.
The waitress's implied attitude was that "you win some, you lose some. "
In the absence of a replacement main course, an offer of a complimentary dessert may not have been accepted but would have gone a long way to appeasing a very dissatisfied customer.
This is not a dining room any of us will choose to dine at again in the foreseeable future, not because of the cooking blunders but because of the way the complaint about the lamb was handled.
Great service and great food. If looking for a good schitty then have to try the commercial, lots of choices we will be back for sure.
I had salt and pepper squid which I think came out of a bag because it had no flavour. When asked about it just a smile so I’m guessing the kitchen didn’t get the message. My wife in the other hand had the chicken schnitzel which was good. In closing if you ask someone about there food at least get to them
What a gorgeous little bar. The ladies behind are just amazing - I can be difficult because I think out loud.
I’ve worked in hospitality and know that there are other places these women would rather be, but they’re here serving my dinner instead if their own family.
Thank you Commercial Team! Glad to call you my local!

We dined here each night whilst staying at Strathalbyn. Loved the stonework on the inside. The pub has two sittings. On the first night we were able to get in on the first but second night later. Both nights were not crowded or noisy.
They had a great choice on the menu and we took advantage of the half serve schnitzel’s which were just the correct size for us.
Definitely recommended.
Went for something to eat and a quick drink on labour day weekend. I was so impressed with this pub. Great atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff and fantastic food 10 out of 10 I will definitely be visiting here again
Busy place but not as good as it used to be. $22 for roast of the day is a bit expensive.
Meal was only reasonable.
Really nice pub. Friendly staff greet you on arrival. Schnitzel night Thursday night. Absolutely delicious. Best Schnitzel lve had in years. Great gravy too. Will definitely return again for another Schnitzel
Great country pub, great service, open fire for a cosy winters feel, keno, lotteries, pokes, only improvement for me would be to the pepper gravy, it needs more grunt and a change of base gravy mix.
Had the chance to have lunch at this pub in Stathalbyn. Friendly staff, a good menu and prompt service. We enjoyed the mains of roast pork and chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Serves were generous and the food was tasty. Roasted veggies with the roast were excellent. Serving size of the salad with the schnitzel was ample and it included beetroot! Well worth a visit.
Dropped into this lovely heritage hotel, in a picturesque beauty of a town, late yesterday afternoon for a drink. A choice of alcohol free beers, Coopers Pale Ale on tap, excellent friendly bar service.what more could you want.
Came here really wanting to like it but left quite disappointed. Limited beers (mostly bogan stuff like West End) and rather disappointing meals. However, wife said the house red was a good drop.
Atmosphere was good but a huge let down were the boomers playing pokies in the adjacent room, which undermines the dining experience in a big way.
Can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon. Cheers
Gary Sjoberg,
I think you are limited, not the menu. What a jerk you are! Seriously 3/5? The hospitality sector has been suffering for the past 2 years and people like you are non constructive and part of the problem.
Why don't you expand on your comments and suggest exactly what is " missing " from the best pub menu in Strath?
