Absolutely loved going to Shobosho the past 4 times for our special occasions!

We've always been greeted and served by the best staff (special shoutout to Taylor for always making us feel at home and welcome, and for the amazing cocktails we will miss not having you at Shobosho anymore take care!)

The food is always AMAZING (highly recommend the prawn and nori Yuzu tacos, and katsu sando). Everything has been a hit with us and our family, and we can't wait to be back for more! One of our top 3 restaurants in South Australia for sure!

Would 11/10 recommend Shobosho for all occasions, and for a gastronomical experience!

Another great experience at Shobosho. This is definitely one of the places I think of first when someone (local or not) asks for food suggestions in Adelaide. Great food, good drinks selection including sake and friendly service. Highly recommend.

Great quality of food and quantity, incredible value for money: loved sitting at the bar in front of the chefs, awesome all round experience, will be coming back when I’m in Adelaide

I had a good time eating YAKITORI last time, but this time was disappointed. Why such this restaurant can't afford undamaged tableware? 30% of the plates were damaged in one night. For food, the beef pie is too sweet and the lamb shoulder is too salty. Definitely won't come again.

Stumbled on Shobosho on Japanese food search before trip. Many other restaurants on TA was highlighted although this was a standout for service. Awesome little restaurant that packs a punch. Highly recommended

Service was very rude as they tried to hurry us out by taking our plates away while we were still eating. The food was so tiny in portion size. Hardly filling. The rocket salad was like the coles 3 dollar bag. Bit they charge 14 for a small.bowl of it. Avoid!

Loved our dinner at Shobosho! Excellent food (we ordered way too much but it was so good). Great wine and beer and the yuzushu was delish too. Totally recommend for Japanese with a twist.

Trendy Japanese Fusion restaurant in a beautiful laneway in the heart of Adelaide city. The service was impeccable and the food & cocktails were even better. Will 100% return when next in Adelaide.

This place is well worth checking out, very visual with an open kitchen, fantastic and friendly staff, amazing food and great cocktails. Perfect for a long lunch or romantic dinner. Had the feed me menu and it did not disappoint, highly recommend the crab udon or the dumplings are to die for. Vegan friendly (also very very Omni friendly!)

WILL BE BACK! LOVE THIS PLACE!

Shobosho must be a local Adelaide favourite as it was busy during the mid week dinner service and it's not hard to see why! The waiters were knowledgeable and offered some great suggestions from the menu. Highly recommend ordering the Salmon Tataki and Crab Udon. The crab Udon in particular was a standout - silky and chewy Udon noodles with a zingy and buttery Yuzu dressing with crab pieces mixed with some Nori to top.
Unfortunately the kitchen ran out of dessert so we weren't able to try any of the offerings: (

A wonderful glimpse in to 1930's Germany. Segregation and discrimination are in fashion again apparently. I wouldn't eat here even if the food was free.

An excellent restaurant. It is expensive but worth it for this food which is very good to say the least. When I visited it was crowded, but still very nice.

Underwhelming, the only highlight the pork katsu. We chose the chef selection 5 courses, all the dishes lacked in flavour and weren’t interesting. I excepted much more from this place. The service was great.

I love the energy and vibe here. The menu is creatively genius. Doesn't serve what most would call traditional Japanese food, but well worth the adventure! Service is second to none!
If you're a food geek, i recommend sitting along the kitchen. The kitchen offers some amazing views of their different cooking techniques.

Six stars. If only that were possible. This is my FAVOURITE restaurant in the country! I live in Canberra and dine in Melbourne and Sydney a lot (that consulting life…) and this place outshines the best of the best across the country. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant. They are easily the best in the game (especially Peta). Her service, knowledge and communication was sensational. She really made our evening special.

I also can’t get over the prices. Silver service places charge more and they WISH their food and service was this good! Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, for example, charges more but their food and service is nowhere near as good. Sean’s Kitchen also wishes they could serve red meat as good as the aged ribs here (they can’t and Sean’s Kitchen prices are a joke for the quality of food they serve - go to Shobosho and get the Aged Ribs instead).

The food is amazing, cooked to perfection with beautiful flavours and amazing presentation. The aged ribs was the stand out dish, although everything we had was 10/10. Even the bread was something special. The atmosphere, food and staff make this a truly special place that I would come back to time and time again.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service for our pre-christmas dinner. We left the choice of food in the Chefs hands. A1 selection!

I have quite high expectation about this place since it is one of recommendation from my friend and I've seen so many reviews said this place is one of the best restaurant in Adelaide.
Their food was good but wasn't that great either.
We ordered 6 dishes of starter, most of the main taste was on the sour side, which were
1. Oyster; ofc! Tangy taste to refresh at the kick off!
2. Salmon tataki; ponzu with wasabi. So average.
3. Wagyu tartare; with Katsuobushi mayo which i didn't smell or taste it at all.
4. Duck dumplings; also dipping sauce was also tangy.
5. Prawn wonton; the size was so small compare to the photo Ive seen on IG. The filling was good but the sauce is so bland. I think is might be good for soup but not good enough for sauce and also wonton skin I think some part they wrap it too thick so when they boil it's hard to cook and a bit chewy.
6. Grilled Leek, this one was good. Texture and balance of taste was perfect.

Main; we had half grilled chicken which was delicious, aromatic from the char and texture was tender and cooked to perfection. Combination with fried rice which was on point, not too oily and pork was nice and still juicy.

Service was nice and friendly but i think there should be more staff on public holidays since they were super busy.

Overall, i think it was still a good experience to try the food from one of the best restaurant in Adelaide.

Awesome atmosphere and great food. Favourites were definitely the rib steak and Teri chicken. Amazingly curated favours for the mains. Sando and crab udon was delicious too although bit pricey for the small portion for those 2 items

While the food was great, I’ve never experienced such poor service at a restaurant. We booked 3 weeks prior to celebrate a milestone so we were all really excited to come to Shobosho. However when we arrived for our booking, it took 5 minutes to even be properly acknowledged by the staff and once we managed to speak to someone we were told the table was no longer available and we had to wait. That was fine, so we offered to get a drink next door. We ended up getting a table next door, before being called back almost an hour after our original reservation time, and received no apology from the staff at all.

Once we were seated, the food took a very long time to come, and I think they forgot a few of our dishes. After we’d finished, one person paid for the meal, only be told 5 minutes later that we hadn’t paid the bill and it had to be paid again - another person was then presented for a bill of $600, for a table of 3 which was obviously wrong. The maître d then had to go check what had happened, and came back to ask for another payment of $300 (on top of the original bill) which was then paid as a mistake. After we got back to the table and realised the double up, we had to ask the waiter for a refund. Again, there was no apology at all.

We tried to pass feedback onto the maître d, and he was rude and unwilling to even apologise. He blamed the mistakes on the ‘new girl’ (who was actually very lovely, in total contrast to himself) and the ‘rowdy table next door’. It’s such a shame for such great food to be paired with dreadful service.

In summary, there are so many better options in Leigh and Peel Street - please spend your money there instead, and at least you’ll actually experience half-decent service.
