Sevenhill Hotel reviews
64We were at the hotel to celebrate our grandsons 30th birthday. Everyone commented on the quality of the food. The staff were great and very accommodating. We will definitely be back.
Must say we were left disappointed as soon as we were seated this evening. We were not aware that we wouldn’t be seated in the cellar part of the restaurant. The upstairs just felt like an everyday family pub. Was hoping to have the romantic cellar experience as most of the photos show. The cellar is what drew us here in the first place…
The food took about 35/40 minutes to come out. Steak and lamb were overcooked.
Flavours were good and everything also just okay.
Would recommend booking cellar as a specific or just going elsewhere depending on the vibe you’re looking for.
Each year, my family and our group of friends comes to the Clare Valley to enjoy a weekend together. There are usually 35-50 of us. Every single trip, we have come to Sevenhill Hotel for our Friday dinner together.
Sevenhill staff have always been brilliant; professional, patient, friendly, and flexible. The food has always been great, however last night took the cake! It was spectacular. The menu was excellent, the food was tasty, and the produce was excellent (I’m vegetarian and can be picky about freshness).
To top it off they offer a bus service (11 seater) which picked some of us up from the caravan park and dropped us back after dinner. It was complimentary and took the pressure off the families who didn’t feel like driving at night. Our driver was courteous and professional- a credit to the Sevenhill team.
The owner/s have done a fantastic job with this hotel. They have ensured it has excellent customer service, especially when catering for large groups. They also maintain high quality meals, which can be a struggle for some places when catering for larger groups. Hence, we keep returning!
Thank you to the staff at Sevenhill Hotel for hosting the most beautiful dinner last night. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Fabulous lunch at Sevenhill Hotel. Arrived just after 1.00pm with no booking and the staff couldn't be more helpful in giving us a table for 6 in the cellar. What a delightful room. Matilda did a wonderful job serving us on her very first day. Would definitely go back again if we are in the area.
Overall, an ok visit. The service was very good. The food sounded great on the menu, but fell rather short. The rack of lamb was well cooked and the steak was ok, but the veggies were cold and tasteless and so were the accompaniments for the meat. I would say not really up to snuff for the $42 per serve price.
Lots of families with very loud kids, which is ok I guess if you are the parents of said kids. Not so great if you're out for a quiet Sunday lunch.
The snitzel was beautifully crumbed and cooked, crisp coating with great salad and chips. The steak was cooked as ordered and great quality.
What a find.totally surprised with this lovely pub in Clare Valley. Staff are super friendly and helpful, lovely open fire and great range of traditional pub meals and up market meals. Great atmosphere and beautiful dining rooms
Garlic bread, seared scallops, chicken dumplings and chilli prawn fettucine.all delicious
Great ambience in front of an open wood fireplace steeped in local history just the place to have a beer
Decent food, good atmosphere, staff service not super high tier but decent for a country pub. Bit pricey but worth the time if your in the Clare Valley and need a good meal.
My wife and myself went to this Iconic hotel for lunch she ordered the special and as for myself I ordered the sausages done in a Guiness beer demiglace reduction served with chips and salad. The place was half full my wife's meal edible but cooked in rancid oil. However my meal would be to ghastly for even dog's. The owner agreed that the sausages were microwaved and the so called sauce congealed, lumpy and cold as were the chips. I am a chef, have been for 40 years and my recomadation to this place is stay away. It may have won awards and yet it's consistency Have bewildered me. The owner did not charge me for the meal however greedy as they are they still charged my wife. For the prices they charge. If it was me I would have given both meals away and a voucher to return. The wine was like balsamic vinegar it was tasteless and as I said before a place to avoid. I've worked with some of the best chefs in Australia and Europe having won awards myself for food. I can safely say that the Sevenhill Hotel is a place to avoid
We got there late on Saturday. Only option was to sit outside or in the cellar. They came up with another room for us.
So lovely of the staff to do so. Very friendly and professional. Food was great. The only complaint I have about the food was. The pork belly needs salt on the crackling. No salt at all. Other wise a fantastic place
Good meal in a nice pub not to far from Clare. Courtesy bus to and from the pub to our caravan park was greatly appreciated.
Great night of quality food and wine. Extensive wine list and inviting open fires in traditional surroundings. Wine cellars below the pub outstanding! Helpful young staff!
Awesome staff, reasonable pricing, food was fantastic with a nice open fire. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Sensational, just amazing. No, I am not associated with this hotel or related to the staff. I love this hotel and the dining room is wonderful. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, the food is just delicious and the service excellent. Do yourself a huge favour and visit.
Paul and the team at Sevenhill Hotel are welcoming and attentive. Along with the good service food, was exceptional and wine cellar boasts all the local quality wines at reasonable prices. There were 8 of us there and everyone enjoyed their meals. If visiting Clare Valley do yourself a favour and dine here, be sure to book to guarantee a table.
Had lunch on a quiet Saturday last weekend, ordered starters arancini balls and the special duck spring rolls, both were tasty. We had the schnitzels, one chicken and the pork, both were dry and bland the chicken was overcooked and burnt at the edges. The pepper sauce was very good. The "Sevenhill Slaw" was dry and very plain, could have done with some flavoursome dressing.
Overall unimpressed and disappointed considering the hotel's reputation.
Fantastic meals for lunch. Staff friendly and willing to chat. Wasps around when eating outside thus we stayed inside. Couldnt eat all the food. Container provided so someone could take their leftovers home.
Had lunch here Sunday and wasn't overly impressed. The young lady that served us had great charisma and talked us into a garlic bread before mains and lucky we did as it was over an hour before we received our meals. I did ask the young lady when we ordered how long could it be potentially before we get our meals and she said 20 mins and we nearly didn't get the garlic bread. When our meals came out I only ate half as I lost my appetite from the long wait.
A fantastic pub, great atmosphere, fantastic service time and time again. Amazing meals. A must visit.
