Seal Bay Conservation Park reviews
35So wholesome to see the seals in their natural habitat. Great tour and tour guides however pricing is quite expensive.
Awesome tour, Taylor was excellent in explaining all about the conservation of the Seals. Very much worth the small cost to keep this happening. And just fabulous to watch the seals in their happy little habitat.
Easy drive in, lots of seals to be seen from the deck but most of them were over at the area you pay for a tour to see, there is no free access have to pay to see even if not going on a guided tour
Nice little hike to the seals and lookout
Went before lunch and wasn't too busy
There were quite a few seals on the beach and more coming in from the water
Great experience doing the sea lion tour - our guide Mitch was friendly and knowledgeable, plus of course it's fantastic seeing the sea lions are fantastic. Would recommend this to anyone.
Unfortunately we didn't have enough time with our group, but it was still an exciting experience and impressive how, despite all the tourism, the emphasis here is on not disturbing the sea lions!
Absolute highlight of the trip! Adding to the recommendations that you have to do the guided tour!
We had Mary-Alice and she was so friendly and knowledgeable
We loved watching the seal pups playing together and feeding from their mums.
We only did the boardwalk, but we're still close enough to see everything without disturbing the seals.
Great experience. We went for the guided tour + broadwalk and felt it was so worth it. Learned some new things about these cute fellas. It's a whole different thing seeing the seals from the broadwalk and walking up close to them.
Outside of the Galapagos, one of the few places in the world you can get up close to sea lions. Very informative tour of the last sea lion colony on Kangaroo Island.
As a couple, we did the guided tour on the beach, and found the whole experience fantastic.
While it may be on the pricier end of experiences, especially for a large family, I can see the reasoning why they need to charge money for the up close experience. A guide is needed to ensure that not only the people on the tour are safe, but just as importantly, the sea lions who are an endangered species.
We were more than happy to pay the money for an experience SA parks tour guide, and help funnel more money into the conservation of the species. I am sure the cheaper experience of the boardwalk can also give you some view of the seals - however if you are looking for a free experience, I would recommend to go straight to Admirals Arch (I believe you will only see due seals, not the colony of sea lions that here at Seal Bay)
We must loved this beach and all the cute sea lions. It is $17 for unguided tour which is worth it. I really recommend it if you're in KI.
I think it was $17 for the self tour walk per adult, it’s about 100m long. You do get very close to the seals which is pretty cool, they literally sleep under the board walk. There’s a whale skeleton also on the dunes. Great views. A bit pricey but at least it goes to local conservation
Visited Seal Bay information centre which was quiet interesting. We did not do the boardwalk as I felt the cost $17 per adult or $45 for a family did not represent good value. These venues should be a gold coin donation as the Conservation parks are funded by the government and our taxes. Felt disappointed.
OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE FOR $40
The Focus for everyone should be that this is a globally unique experience that is most likely once in a lifetime for most. The host taking us down to our guided tour on the beach was so passionate and knowleadgable. I didnt know what to expect and learned more than i could of imagined and experienced very personal, up close interaction (no touching obviously) with these amazing sea lions! Once you've done the guided tour, very much recommend doing the board walk tour - and if you havent done it already, go to Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch! KI.lots and lots of amazing places to see and visit.
Absolutely incredible place. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and really friendly, always willing to answer questions. The guided tour, while more expensive than the self-guided, allowed access within 10m of the seals on the beach. 100% worth the extra cost. Must visit if you’re on the island.
The seals up close and personal was a good experience. From the tickets and revenue one would expect at least clean toilets but the toilets were stinking like nothing I had experienced. Was expecting more value for money.
We were warned by locals on the Island about this rip off. Better going to Admirals Arch to see sea lions and seals. We called in to the visitor centre for a look with no intention of paying such a ridiculous price for a narrative tour.
Best enjoyed at sunset, (for the stunning skies), be prepared for the walk along the wooden boardwalks that lead down to the beach, where the sealions lounge about, awaiting your silent stares of awe.
The sealions are the draw card, but the beach is beautiful in its own right and perfectly 'instagrammable' with or without sealions in the shot.
Souvenirs available from the shop.
Noticing we were from the mainland,
staff were super-helpful in highlighting forthcoming bad weather which would affect ferry crossings the following day. This helped us prepare to make alternative arrangements.
Note: Also one of the rare spots in this part of the island that you can receive Vodafone mobile phone signal.
Here is sea lions’s home, they know here, after 3 days and three nights nonstop catching fish, they will come back here and find their pops. I booked two adult tickets for $75.3, because if you book online, you’ll be charge credit card fee.
